Beyond Frustrated With CTD's

I have had this game now since it's release date and as of now I still have not been able to play it. Every time that I load a save the game will crash after a random amount of time, but usually within the first 2-3 minutes after loading. Outdoors, indoors, in cities and towns, it really does not matter. It is the same crash every time; with no warning the game crashes to the desktop without a single error message. I have tried the soundfix, uninstalling FFDshow, updating all of my drivers, disabling steam In-Game, disabling the firewall and anti-virus, switching to low graphics, disabling VSYNC and antialiasing, in fact I have tried pretty much every solution that I could find and nothing works. For awhile I was able to use the 4gb Skyrim mod with which I was able to play for almost an hour before crashing, but since the update even launching from that mod does not work. This game is a broken product and so far has not even come close to being worth the $60.

First: if you're going to attempt to use spoiler tags, try not to misspell "spoiler."

Second: the 4GB/LAA mod is not required as of 1.3.10 or later versions of Skyrim and may in fact cause problems. If you are trying to use it or have used it in the past, remove it and all of its associated files (.dll files in particular) from your game directory.

Third: disable and remove any and all mods, then rename, move or delete your .ini files. New ones will be created the next time you launch the game.

I have experienced ZERO crashes with 1.4.21 and 1.4.27. I only use SKSE, SkyUI and a world map replacer and the game has not crashed once in nearly 100 hours of play.

Upgrading your OS to 64-bit will cut down on crashes dramatically. Performance may still be a bit sluggish with that CPU, but at least you won't crash.

This is particularly important. I had initially no crashes. Then I installed SkyUI which uses SKSE. Still no crashes, but then after a while I got the occasional crash. So I went completely vanilla and no more crashes. I now believe the CTDs could have been caused by me running an outdated SKSE. So go completely vanilla and test. If it's fine, then install one mod, then test. That way you can better isolate the problem.
