Big Problem

Having problems, where I can no longer actually play the game....

Problem started earlier today, with disc is unreadable problem every other time I tried to play NV, that stopped for a bit, then the game started freezing, every 5 minutes into a game or so.
Now I cant load my saves or start new ones cause it freezes on the loading screen every time.

I 1st thought, must be corrupt saves, as this morning some of my saves were saying "corrupt" when I went to save over them, so I just deleted my character after finally settling to start a new game, now it turns out I cant even start a new game.

Bearing in mind I have tried this with 2 discs as I thought the 1s was scratched so took it back 2 hours ago and got a new one and the problem with sceen loading persisted so I deleted my saves, now I cant start a new game.

Any help? Or will I have to just wait for a patch and see if that works...

The bit about getting unreadable errors makes me think there might be an issue with your Xbox. In my personal experience (and also seeing cases online), unreadable disc errrors (even if it's just with a select number of games) is never a good sign.

To make sure it's not an issue with the disc, maybe see about bringing your game/harddrive to a friend's house to see if it's working (that is, if you have the older Xbox model). You might also trying clearing the game's cache:
How do I clear the game cache?
On occasion, the player might need to try resetting the file cache because of performance issues or other random problems...to do this, the player must hold the "Left Bumper," "Right Bumper" and "X" buttons simultaneously while the game is booting.

Have tried doing this already with no new results, have also cleared the xbox cache of all updates also with no new results, the disc unreadable problem doesn't happen anymore after I took my 1st copy back and they gave me a new disc : /

EDIT: The game now loads after doing the NV cache thing another 3 times and redownloading the patch

Also know that the "Disc is unreadable" screen can render that the disc was scratched at one point. I had this problem where my discs were actually scratched BY the system itself. I tried taking both my Call of Duty: Modern Warefare and Fallout 3 back to GameStop, but I wasn't able to switch them.
