Continued on from Lost Knight's last thread:

Ive had a problem since EA stepped in, and will always have a problem with them. They sold out and are dead to me. It would take a lot to resurrect my faith in the little Canadian linear, "JRPG in a WRPG" body company.

Just to respond to this:

but everyone better is at either Bethesda or Obsidian. i mean i guess they could go for Ken Rolston but he's too busy making MMOs.

what Bioware needs to do is team up with Obsidian for a game. not slough off some [censored] engine and let Obsidian make an ambitious-but-unfinished-and-almost-unplayable-at-launch sequel, but a straight up collaboration, like Rockstar and Bondi. it'll never happen, but at this rate Bioware's pretty much just going to get shut down in a couple years anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

EA corrupts anything it touches. It's horrible, and I don't understand why developers who care about their games don't resist it. I hope EA won't have its claws on Bethesda some day.

EA would never get Beth. Im more worried about Beth taking cues from EA though. A lot of EA nickel and diming tactics are making their way into other companies marketing strategies. That and trying to appeal to, too wide of an audience, moving away from what made them great in the first place. Because they werent everybody else, in a market that is quickly becoming an 'everybody else' bubble.

Enter Pandemic, Bullfrog, etc. When Necromancer EA isn't making thralls out of studios, its pulling a Good-fellas and torching these companies, after juicing them of any soul they once had. Id do anything for an actual Mercenaries sequel, or a Pandemic Star Wars Battlefront III, or another Populous, Dungeon Keeper, etc. All this for some rehash sports title, or buggy, action game. what they did to ME though is inexcusable. They took a (IMO) top fifteen RPG franchise of all time and turned it into a run of the mill shooter with a dialogue system.

Well, EA or not, they haven't produced a "Command & Conquer 4" yet, so no :)

EAs control and influence is blatantly obvious. The NV/Beth is a bad example since Beth tested NV. And we all know how that went.

As soon as EA touched them, it all went wrong. I'd say more, but I'm sure it's already been said.

They made a DLC for ME2 that gave you zero choices and didn't even allow you to bring a team with you. They forced you to commit an atrocity. I didn't even bother with that terrible [censored].

Dragon Age 2 failed utterly to live up to its predecessor. It took complex and well-written dialogue trees and pared them down to "nice," "dikewad," and "are you a dragon?" The romances took heavy cues from Twilight, for [censored]'s sake.

I have no interest in ME3, no matter how much Tali's ass may factor into it. Bioware is utterly dead to me.

I loved ME1 and ME2 and I expect to love ME3.

I won't be getting ME3 though. I got the first two cheap in a Steam sale (really the first time I bought something from Steam) and I don't buy new releases from download services since they tend to cost full price. I also don't like the idea of splitting up the trilogy between Steam and Origin. If ME3 never comes to Steam I'll probably wait a long time, especially since EA refused my customer service when they removed the option to delete used Spore profiles and I was stuck with my primary name on a creature creator account and they didn't lift a finger to do anything about it.

I felt that way at first, as I got a free copy of ME2 from buying DA2, but I had to install Origin in order to download it.

Also, I purchased ME1 from Steam for $5.

Ultimately it was a lot more convenient than I expected.

Origin download speed was slightly slower than Steam, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is not a resource hog and all processes get killed when you exit the program. As for importing save games from ME1 to ME2, the fact that they are in different installation paths doesn't really make a difference.

Of course, I can certainly understand why you have a chip on your shoulder about EA. I had some difficulties with EADM in the past.

before EA bought biowarw, NVN OC was infamous of its absolute stupidity that even a 10 years old could write better. Jade empire was another NVN in oriental theme, as a Chinese, Ifound it svcks major hardcoe. EA brought QA to the team, and a good channel closer to its customers.

Bioware killed itself mutiple times since the start, if you blame EA, you obviously haven't played enough of their games.

Yeah, this pretty much.

They still make good games although ME2 was not as good as ME1 and DA2 was about average 6/10 I would say.I still have faith in them to make good games but I think EA might not be helping very much

Bioware's ok but if they don't knock it out of the ballpark with Mass Effect 3 I'm done with them.

I still need to finish ME1 which I picked up on Steam for 5 euros a while ago. :P

I thought ME1 had some pretty repetitive 'dungeons'. Those small bases on planets that all looked the same aside from crate placement, and were mostly used for filler quests. Yet I hardly heard people complaining about that. Is it that much worse in Dragon Age 2?

It's about the same as Dragon Age 2 but Mass Effect pulled it off a lot better then DA2 did. I actually don't mind the repetitive dungeons in ME1.

I have absolutely no problems at all with Bioware. In my opinion, they're tied with Rockstar and Bethesda in making the best games today. When it comes to the atmosphere, the environment and fun in an RPG, Fallout 3 is my favourite. When it comes to the story, the dialogue, the characters and really all of the other things that make an RPG, Dragon Age: Origins is definitely my favourite. Mass Effect 2 is also one one of the greatest times I've ever had playing a game, so no, I don't have any problem with Bioware. Their games have the deepest, most enriched stories, the most complex characters and the most amazing dialogue of any game company I can think of. Do I have to mention the Old Republic...its a Star Wars MMO...HOLY CRAP!!!
