Black Mountain question

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 2:19 am

I entered Black Mountain before getting or knowing about the Crazy Crazy Crazy quest. Are the super mutants here supposed to be hostile?
Had to put one of them down, sneaked past some others, killed some Nightkin, fixed Tabitha's robot and thus finished a quest I don't remember
getting. Glad I didn't fail the quest but I would have preferred to play the whole thing. So are the super mutants here supposed to be hostile?

Damn I must have missed him... I'll have to reload a save. Had to do that anyway because I
also killed an important Omerta guy subsequently screwed up an NCR quest... Damn, I should
really save more often.

Edit: Is there a way to reset this quest with the console command? Or will that cause perks
or other to dissapear?

Well with the exception of finding Neil (I read he might also have been killed due to a bug) I did all this:

- Find Neil at Neil's Shack to begin the quest.
- Make your way up Black Mountain, exterminating the Super Mutant Masters and Nightkin along the way.
- Once you arrive at the broadcast building, go out the back door and pick up the Tabitha's key under the stairs.
- Now you must remove Tabitha by either:
---Killing her
---Repairing Rhonda, a custom Mr. Handy, found in the storage building.

I repaired Rhonda and thus finished the quest. So I guess it doesn't really matter but it still bugs me a bit,
as I wanted to play through all the quests.

This quest will net you only a bit of XP. Everything else you gain from the quest can be gotten without starting the quest. Neil is the first building (shack) as you start up the mountain road. If you crawl up the back way, then you'll miss him. You can still start the quest anytime before activating Rhonda or dissabling the radio signal.

Thanks for the info, I forgot about the radio signal. I did in fact disable that first chance I got.
Guess that'll teach me to think before I act even more.

I was about to do this quest as I heard that Raul was there - is that right? I've met all the other companions and I was gutted when I came across his shack... only to find it empty.

I found a way up Black Mountain that totally avoided any and all Super Mutants, Nightkin, etc. and repaired Rhonda with ease.

Am I missing out on anything? I repaired Rhonda but it attacked me because I had killed Tabitha, so I destroyed the robot. Does it do something cool if left intact?

Spoiler
repairing Rhonda before you encounter Tabitha enables a peaceful, good karma resolution of the quest, with the two of them re-united to wander the wastes.

I got the quest from Neil when I was very low level, came back at 22nd level with two companions, followed the supermutants as they made their way up the mountain road, sneaked on the downhill side of the road part of the way, killed two supermutants and one centaur, sneaked past the first pair of Nightkin, sneaked around the pile of supermutants who stopped at the top, went behind the fallen satellite dish, and ran into another Nightkin I couldn't pass, and when fighting drew the attention of the dozen supermutants I'd passed, so after dying a couple of times I decided to make a run for it to the buildings, randomly entered the room with the robot, fixed the robot, and walked outside to find Tabitha presently thanking me, the quest completed, and all the supermutants and nightkin on the top of the mountain friendly.
