Black screen in Skyrim

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 10:49 pm

Hello,

I bought a new computer recently and my skyrim save file was on my old Desktop. I thought I could just move the save file from my old PC to my new PC and that worked out at first...

Then when I opened my save file on my new computer I saw NOTHING except the HUD, I could hear sounds etc. Saw 'E to Enter Whiterun' and could use spells etc. But I just didn't see anything els.

Here is a picture of what I see.....

When I start a NEW game I can see everything again but I just don't want to lose this savefile.. I did so much work for it...

You used the blind spell accidentally on yourself.

Now you can't see.

Do you have more than one save from the old game? Do any of them work or do they all do that? I have no idea why it would do something like that just wondering.

Is the installation of Skyrim on the new computer exactly the same as the old one? Same mods, same patch level, etc.?

It probably is the same patch level, since I had Skyrim installed on both pc's for a moment when I brought the save file to my new pc, though not the same mods, does that actually make a difference?

Nope, just one save file. I only made 1 character at that time so I only have 1 save file, I removed the autosaves because I didn't see any use in holding on to them.

EDIT: Do you guys want a picture of what I see in-game?

Not having the same mods can make a huge difference, depending on which mods you used. If you had any mods that altered graphics in any way, there's a good chance that not having them is affecting the game.

Well I used HD Graphics and Better fona (better nature), will redownloading them make my savefile work pherhaps?

Definitely worth trying, especially HD graphics. I'm willing to bet that's the problem.
