Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 4:26 pm

I think its time for me to either get the black star or azuras star,But not sure what to choose. Which should i choose? I am thinking about choosing azuras star but,Not sure..
I remember soul trapping vivec, almalexia And hircine in morrowind x) Also jyggalag in oblivion.
Now when dawnguard is soon here,Time to soultrap some more legendary enemies! Should i get azuras star or the black star?

For me The Black Star is the best choice, as it traps both white and black souls.

I went with azura's star. But the infinite soul gem delioo is good enough for me, i don't really like to use enchanted weapons so yeah >_<

Gameplay wise the Black Star is far more useful. It allows you to soultrap humans who you encounter more then animals and they always have grand souls unlike animals.

However if you roleplay the decision is very different. Very few people would want to anger a Daedric prince. If you follow generic rules of a race, Dunmer and Khajiit would never even consider it, with a few exceptions here and there.

If you don't roleplay or if your char can justify angering a prince go for the black star.

As long as that bug or something is up, that's the best solution.

Well I generally go for the Azura Star, though I admit the Black Star is more useful. Using the Black Star just seems more evil, especially considering the sacrifices in order to get it made. Also Azura seems to be one of the more likable (less evil) Daedra princes.

There are so many soul gems (black and otherwise) in Skyrim that you don't neither the black star nor Azura'star.

The real question is whether you intend to use Aranea as follower or not. I advise against it, because I am her most ardent admirer and want her for myself alone.

Black Star. The ability to trap Black Souls whenever you come across a bandit fort/camp is priceless. Especially if you use an Artifact that devours charges, like Volendrung. The Mace of Molag Bal+Black Star = Oblivion's Umbra+Azura's Star.
There are only a handful of creatures that give Grand Souls (Mammoths, Falmer Shadowmaster Boss, Draugr Death Overlord Boss, Dragon Priest), and there's usually only one of the Bosses in each dungeon, at the very end. While every single Black Soul is a Grand Soul, even if it came from a Lvl 2 Bandit.
You can actually get some pretty good Enchanting gains by raiding a Bandit Fort or a Forsworn Camp and recharging your weapon after each kill, since the amount of Enchantment skill gained when recharging is based on the size of the soul, not the actual amount of charges restored. My Nord Warrior got up to 100 Enchanting by doing this with Mace of Molag Bal+Black Star.

There are so many soul gems (black and otherwise) in Skyrim that you don't neither the black star nor Azura'star.
The only reliable way to get Black Soul Gems, is to buy them from Enthir. Otherwise, they're a rather uncommon loot off of certain monsters, and if you actively enchant or recharge, then there's simply not enough of them from looting.

Aranea isn't that useful anyways. Marcurio whoops her ass up and down the block.

Black Star for me. For one, I don't want to do Azura or her followers any favors. Secondly, there is something evil about trapping human (black) souls and using them to enchant weapons.

Okay  Thanks for the Advice! i will choose the black star. Azura will be mad at me.. D: Also i wonder what the vampires in dawnguard will have for soul type,But i will still be able to trap them with the black star. it captures both white and black. But that is a bug,And it always captures grand souls? what if there is a soul above grand in dawnguard? will it still capture grand souls only?

I most certainly don't waste black soul gems for recharging! That's what all these petty and common soul gems are for. Same with stuff I enchant to sell.
Just saying.

From a practical standpoint I would say the Black Star is the better option, but I usually cleanse it. Rp reasoning of course.

Vampires, and I suspect Arkay isn't entirely happy with it, still fall under his protection. Their souls are black. There probably won't be a level above grand and if there is you have nothing to worry about there is nothing in this world that Azura's star can't contain she just chooses not to let it contain everything.
