I was just wondering as I have seen a number of threads started on this issue, what the actual definition of a bloated save is.

I am a little worried that my saves are somewhat bloated, as they are quite large, ranging from 8mb-11mb.

However I'm not sure how it is possible to either properly diagnose a save file as 'bloated' or how to fix the issue.

As far as I am aware, in some cases the bloated save files can sometimes become corrupt and it's possible to lose all progress? Is there any way to keep this from happening perhaps a routine clean up of the save file that can minimise chance of losing anything?
