Blood spurts and my head falls off....

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 5:01 pm

PC version.

A rather strange feature began happening to my character the other day....

When ever I respawn blood spurts then if I use the 3rd person view I can see my head
rolling away on the ground. If I switch to first person view the head disappears. I have
switched head gear and amulets all to no avail. I really is very strange to see your character
walking around with no head and nothing but red bloody neck meat on top of his shoulders.
I do remember some high level Raugr (sp?) decapitating me in a mine somewhere but I then repawned
and everything seemed fine for a while. I only seemed to notice this once I started the dark brotherhood
quest and started to become a vampire then found the cure for that.
This happened after I hit level 30 or so. I have used (tim) in some tight spots but not often and
never while killing dragons.

Strangest thing I have seen so far is goats walking on a river bed under water.

Wow, that's funny. I hope it's only temporary. I would hate to have to finish the game headless.

Haha, happened to me too one time, had to ditch the character in the end as I had no save prior to (ab)using "tim" (Toggle Immortal Mode).

Just a weird side-effect from having used TIM and having your head chopped off. Oh and something to do with changing cells? Can't rightly remember what I did to permanently screw up my character, but it's a mixture of those.

Hope you have an earlier save:

TIM

Toggle Immortal Mode (makes it so your health will never reach zero no matter what even though you still take damage, but you can't die (final blow animations won't kill you either, but may cause a bug that makes you lose your head) and nothing extra, which is why it is not the same command as TGM). You can still be decapitated. So even after TIM is disabled, your character will be alive but decapitated!

So, since your immortal, your body can lose it's head and you will still be alive. The reason you see your head fall off each time you load is the game thinks you should have a head when rendering the cell, so it renders one for you. But your character knows the head is not attached to the body, so it falls off.

Don't worry about Jonny Depp. I believe ya.
Still a screeny would be great.

If you can't fix your "problem", then just rp as some kind of headless adventurer. I'm sure you'll be popular at parties!

Too bad you can't turn transparent like the headless horseman.

As CCNA said, the console command "tim" will allow the PC to lose his/her head, but not die.

I can see how that is irritating, but it seems a little cool, too.

Too bad it's only the head that can be severed. It would be interesting to have a character somehow moving around with no limbs (or head) at all.

Perhaps in a future dlc or full game, Beth can introduce the chopping off of hands and etc during combat.

My first thought after being a little P.O.ed was to buy a horse and be a headless horseman.
Although I do have a couple of screen caps I'm pretty useless at posting images.
Watching the head roll away is kind of amusing though.

EDIT: As a further thought I'm going to get at the top of a fairly steep hill and see how far down it will roll.
