so i completed this quest with no problems (other than the fact you cant turn in or kill the real culprit)

I have no patches to my game as of yet


there iss a part two to this quest im assuming or did beth really just let the real person go scot free and forget about it and to add insult to injury make them tagged "Essential"

if there is a part two how do I start it?

A few game days after you complete the first part there will be another murder which will start the second part. Some have said that the second part don't always start so you sometimes have to leave Windhelm a few times to start it.

I've never had this quest glitch on me and it's pretty straightforward in directing you about what to do next but maybe I've just been lucky. Sell the amulet to the guy before the second part starts. I waited until it began this last game and it's too late. If you want it to transform, you have to sell it to the guy now and then you can recover it later. I did it in a previous game and it worked even though I never used it. Good luck!

The second part started for me when the court wizard told me to ( not a quote here) patrol the Grey quarter because he thought their would be another murder. It should start at night of the same day as talking to him, or if it's already night as soon as you get out of the palace. Only I've never had that attempted murder happen in the Grey quarter.

Never had any trouble with it on any of my characters so far. /knocks on wood

Side note, there needs to be a hugging 360 emote. >:

It worked fine on my first playthrough. Then Calixto's house would stay locked forever. Then Viola Giordano was nowhere to be found. Then everything was fine until I had to go to the marketplace at night and the Butcher was unkillable. Then I gave up.

It worked fine for me on most playthroughs. Then I got one where the guard wouldn't appear to initiate the quest, so the quest wouldn't start until I broke into the house. Then the quest proceeded normally.
