Blood on the Ice was a dissappointment.

This quest was shaping up to be a really nicely done quest...til I finished it and was like WHAT?.

You don't even get to fight the court wizard. You just investigate the empty house, follow clues, talk to the steward and you're done -.-. Built up so well, and then just...

:/.

Kinda like the College of Winterhold questline, but at least you get a crack at Acano.

You had Wuunferth arrested? Hmm, methinks the butcher will strike again.

Yes, well it seemed like that's the only choice I had.

You should go down to the cells and talk to Wuunferth.

BTW, it may not have seemed like an option, and didn't show up in the journal, but you could have gone straight to him, instead of to Jorlief. Not saying you did wrong; just that there was an unlisted option. That's what i did. Everyone kept telling me how dangerous he was. "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!"

Also, if you haven't, try to sell the amulet to Calixo. If you don't do that before the quest ends, it's stuck in your inventory forever.

I'm not sure if you can do that after you've got the 'culprit'. Anyway OP, if you still can sell it to Calixto, DO IT. The amulet is bugged.

That's because the wizard isn't guilty. Have you actually finished the quest yet and put the correct person in jail (Calixo)? If you haven't, after a few days, people will start getting murdered again. The quest does not finish until you catch Calixo in the act and kill him.

A side note: You don't have to send the wizard to jail at all. You can talk to him before you go to the steward and the wizard will tell you that Calixo is actually behind the murders.

Also, the Mage's College ending really, really svcked. I just wanted to kill Acano from the beginning. It's obvious from the get go that he's the bad guy. Doing the ending quest again is painful. I don't even want to go get the staff; I just want to kill Acano while he's sitting there staring at the orb before he starts trying to use the power from it. There really should be an alternate way to complete this quest.

You had the choice to talk to Wuunferth... don't just always follow the quest markers. ;)

FWIW: I had him arrested on both playthroughs...didn't think it was an option on my first and figured he would just say, "Hmm. Can I help you?". On my 2nd I didn't remember that as soon as we speak to Jorlief he arrests him and figured I'd get the chance after.

Ok I take back my feelings on this.
You should go down to the cells and talk to Wuunferth.

Not saying you did wrong; just that there was an unlisted option. That's what i did. Everyone kept telling me how dangerous he was. "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!"
See if I thought like that, I would have. But it really didn't occur to me to talk to him.
Lucky you could even do it, i hear its really bugged. Broken on my first play, and I dont seem to have it at all on my second.
It kinda did bug out for a few minutes. Him and the victim just stood there, with weapons and food ingrediants floating in mid air.

As for the amulet, I didn't get it. I didn't go inside the hideout - another thing that I overlooked while in the house.
