This mod has changed the way I play, even though I haven't died yet. I set it to hardcoe ghost mode and the prospect of losing all my stuff has made me enter encounters differently. I am playing this with a deleveled world, so I have to be very careful as to when to engage and when to run away. Level 9 right now, so still doing a lot of running away. However, when I do triumph, the reward is so much greater!
I was travelling the roads near Rorikstead earlier when I was set upon by a pack of bandits. I ran immediately, of course, especially since there seemed to be several bandit plunderers in there. Eventually I got cornered by a plunderer and I had to fight for my life. It took all my potions (which take 12 seconds to fully work), but with a sliver of health left he knocked me to my knees. As he walks away, I manage to get back up and stab him in the back!
I walked on, still high on my victory, when I notice a forsworn running towards me at full speed. I aim a blast of fire at her- no effect- and see she's a Forsworn Reaper. Crapping my pants, I ran back the way I came. Only to walk into the rest of the bandit party that was still tracking me. Luckily for me bandits and forsworn do not like each other, and a full out melee where everybody forgets about the Khajiit cowering in the corner breaks out. The forsworn cleaves her way through most of the bandits with ease, but a plunderer seems to be her match. I help take the plunderer down, but as soon as he's down, the forsworn brings me to my knees as well. She walks away, confident that I will bleed out, but I manage to get up again. With only a sliver of health (all my pots were gone by then) I sneak-run after her and a few quick slices with my trusty dagger end her life. Standing in the road filled with corpses, my Khajiit has never felt so accomplished. Turns out fighting with actual risk is way better than beating dragons on vanilla!
