Boone 2nd quest issue

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:18 pm

So I completed his second quest by taking him back to the camp of his past and helping clear the Legion raid. I even got a pop up box saying something about the armor he is suppose to get once complete. However that armor has not shown up in his inventory and nothing I have done changes that. I admit it was late and I was tired when I finished this quest and I didn't read the pop up box to closely so I fear I did something wrong. Anyone have this issue and have fixed it?

So far I have tried giving him all kinds of different armor which he will put on still nothing. Told him to leave and go back to hangout both without any armor and again with stuff I have given still nothing. Talking to him gets me no where. Honestly I have not sure what kind of armor he is suppose to get or even if it is worth this trouble but I am getting pissed about this and can not forget it. The only thing I can think of next to do is take him out in the wastes and kill him which I assume is not possible.

I read that this quest was bugged on the PC and that the armor does not appear. I have not yet killed enough Legion guys to trigger the 2nd quest, so I can not confirm this myself.

It's Boone's armor, not the player's armor. Sorta like how you can't actually get Boone's customized hunting rifle. You know how normally, Boone's default armor is a merc grunt outfit? After that quest, his default armor is a 1st Recon survival/assault suit. If you take away any clothing items you gave him, he should equip it by default.

Oh I was thinking that I could take it from him and use it myself. If the uniform he is wearing is that armor once I take everything else from him then he can keep it. I just wanted to see what it looked like and I didn't find it that appealing.

I doubt it has anything to do with killing a X number of legion cause up to that point I really hadn't killed many of them. All I did was talk to him now and again then he finally came around and started talking about why he left NCR.

*SPOILERS*
There are pre-requisites actions/quests you perform with Boone as your companion that give you "points".

Once you reach 5 points you can talk to Boone about Bitter Springs and begin the upgrade quest.

Free Quest: Silus Treatment (Kill Silus) +1 point
Side Quest: I Put a Spell on You (Kill Captain Curtis) +1 point
Main Quest: Render Unto Caesar (Kill Caesar) +2 points
Side Quest: Booted (Save and release the Powder Ganger hostages) +2 points
Anytime: Kill Vulpes Inculta in Nipton +1 point
Side Quest: Back in Your Own Backyard (Save crucified NCR hostages/Kill crucified NCR Hostages) +2/+1 points
Side Quest: Eye for an Eye (Wipe out the Legion completely) +2 points

Hope this helps!

It makes me really sad I was hoping to be able to wear that 1st Recon Assault Armor since I saw the early screenshots of New Vegas... It would have really completed my 1st Recon/Sniper look along with my YCS/186 Gauss Rifle.
