Boone + Power Armor

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 6:18 pm

I didn't name anyone responsible, that was you Softs...(sorry that may be embarrassing for you, but I did suggest we take the discussion off-forum).

We're consumers, but we have less rights for e-content than any other product. Notwithstanding your profession, or your understanding of the problems involved in programming, if a company takes on a project in the manner you suggest, then part and parcel will be to take on complaints regarding problems dating from the original project. However, we are both in agreement in relation to your final statement, which was my point in relation to our second series of posts.

But, and I don't mean to shatter dreams here, but if issues weren't fixed in F3, I doubt they will be fixed in FNV, based on our discussion here...

Nah, not embarrassing at all, actually. I can glean enough about who your comments were directed at from most of your other posts in other threads. Either way, though, pointing at the developers and declaring "laziness" is simply a crass personal attack against folks who had little to do with those decisions (but very likely put a lot of sweat and soul into the work they were responsible for) with nothing to back it up regardless of whose developers were the target.

I mean, surely if you know as much about project management as you say you know where the lines between project management and budgeting are drawn, right?

We're consumers, but we have less rights for e-content than any other product. Less rights than other products? No. You'll see exactly the same conversations about bugs in any public forum from lawnmowers (my parents currently own a brand new lawnmower with a defect that probably will not be fixed by the manufacturer) to dishwashing detergent. The only thing that makes software different is the number of variables involved. It makes it difficult to set hard guidelines and legal precedents. There is simply too much interaction between too many moving parts...many of which were created by separate parties.

But, and I don't mean to shatter dreams here, but if issues weren't fixed in F3, I doubt they will be fixed in FNV, based on our discussion here...

This is probably true.

That must be the remnants helmet. i could be wrong but that is the best helmet in the came. If your looking for the matching armor with it. go to Deathclaw promontory where you can get the Remnants Armor. Total is has a DT of 36

I found a cool piece of power armor in a certain, bug-filled cave. Not being trained to wear such things, I put it in Boone's inventory to hold for later. I was quite surprised when he put it on!

How does an NCR Ranger have power armor training? I thought the only people in the Fallout universe who had that were the Brotherhood and Enclave. If the answer is a spoiler, I'd rather not know, but I don't think it is, so I'm curious.

I don't remember which NPC tells the story, but one of them mentions that the NCR Power Armor (heavy infantry) units are still in California because of the Brahmin barons bankrolling the politicians to keep their interests protected. Maybe it was Chief Hanlon.

That's the kind of thing you put in a spoiler tag, dude. Not everyone wants to just know where things are. For instance, I found a random mine while exploring, filled with cazadors, and a single huge cazadore of a type I didn't know existed. After very nearly dying, I glanced on the ground and found this awesome helmet. Very fun.

Now, because of you're comment, I'm going to fast-travel directly to deathclaw promontory with the express intention of getting that armor, knowing exactly where it is, just like going to the grocery store for milk. Not fun.

Try not to kill the sense of discovery for people. It's the reason I was unspecific in my original post.

And did Someone say that Veronica doesn't level up?? That's a problem, she's my favorite follower.

I did her side-quest, and I went on to do some of the other followers', leaving her behind. I was planning on going back to her later, and I've leveled up quite a bit since. I'm at lvl 26 now, at what level do you think she becomes too weak?

If you're on the PC, there's a mod that fixes her leveling problems. There's another that fixes her becoming a statue at the end of her quest (just stands there won't follow). Check the Nexus for both.

The NCR has power armor and it doesn't require training, that's actually what I wear.

Are you sure all companions can wear power armor (well, all those that can wear any armor, that is)? I could've sworn I tried to give Raul it and he wouldn't wear it. Gannon would, but I have my suspicions about him... I'll have to try Cass, though that'll mean doing a bunch of stuff for Crimson Caravan I've been putting off.

They all don't seem to be able to wear the "Brotherhood" marked PA (some can however), but the ones that don't include "Brotherhood" in the title seem universal.

The actual story of NCR Power armor is that in California, when the NCR fought the Brotherhood of Steel they would ultimately find BoS power armor on their fallen soldiers. When they got these suits the soldiers couldn't wear the suits as they did not have power armor training. The NCR would experiment with the suits so that they would not require training by putting energy packs onto the back of their Power Armor.

Really? Where do I read up on that? That's something I want to know more about! :D

To be fair, it isn't a marked location.. so good luck finding it without looking it up.

Actually more to the end of the game I saw NCR troops wearing some sort of power armor. Looked like a less advance version of the BoS/Enclave kind, but still PA.

It make sense that the NCR got their hands on some Power Armor at some point and they do have the means to study, understand and then produce it.

The NCR actually doesn't have power armor, they just stripped all the 'power' out of brotherhood armor, resulting in just very heavy plating. If you check the armors you can see that if gives -2 agility ( if I remember correctly) but no strength bonus. So it's just very heavy plating. Not power armor.

I already found it. I didn't stick around, though, since I wasn't of a level to take on Deathclaws. Regardless, my point stands. It's like saying "weapon x is in Primm". Sure, someone might not know where Primm is yet, but once they find it, they don't go, "ooh, I wonder what's here", they say "oh this is where weapon x is".
