okay so i was reading the new Borderlands 2 GI and it looks amazing! i looked up online the first one with a GOTY dlc disk and i think i should get it. the gameplay looks amazing,endless weapons,and i love RPG's! but what do you guy's think? Should i buy Borderlands GOTY for the Xbox 360?

Yeah, I enjoyed it quite a bit. It strikes a decent balance between shooter and RPG and it's very fun to play. Just don't go in expecting a great story. Plus, keep in mind that to get the best experience you should play with friends.

Also, I'm pretty sure there's a main thread for Borderlands somewhere around here.

Definitely. I have it for Ps3, and it's the only game I've got a Platinum on. It is more fun if you have a friend who can come over for splitscreen, but the single player is fine.

If you can go without a decent story then I don't see why not. I got about 25 hours out of it before I lost interest and I can't really say the gameplay was bad, but it got pretty repetitive. The loot wasn't nearly as appealing as Diablo's, which is what I see folks comparing it to from time to time, but it's loot nonetheless.
