Borvir's Dagger

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 5:01 am

What is this thing? I don't get it.. it's just an Elven Dagger with a name?

And I also found this journal: "Lymdrenn Tenvanni's Journal"

I cannot store/get rid of the Book because it is a "Quest Item". But the Dagger on the other hand I can sell/store/improve/and enchant it.

Can anyone shed some light onto this? Is it an actual quest? If so how do I start/trigger it?

Thanks!

The journal's for a quest involving Brand-Shei. The dagger's from a cut quest involving all the dead students from the College of Winterhold.

Just google it or check the wiki. You can pretty much get info on any item in the game by checking these sites. It even tells you about bugs and such.

Check it out.

How are you going to get in-game info on an item (Borvir's Dagger) that isn't involved in any quests?

The player found the dagger on it's owner corpse. He's already got the info.

I don't know about you, but when I find uniquely named items, I assume there is more to them than just being random loot. Why would the devs take the time to name a plain dagger unless there was more to it?

The point is that you will NEVER find out anything about the item just by playing the game. It's not unreasonable to want to know if a uniquely named item has any relevance outside of simply having said name.

If you don't want to use a wiki to find out such info, that's fine, no one is telling you how to play your game. But it's pretty lame to come into a thread and make condescending remarks to someone who does. Who the hell wants to hang on to an item that may not be useful later?

This is part of an unmarked quest to find the 3 missing apprentices. It does not show up in your journal, it does not offer a reward, but it is a game quest in that an NPC sets you on the path to find them.

There are a few of these quests in the game.

I'm pretty sure you'll find out all what you need to find if you play carefully, talking to everyone, etc. Too many people try to get answers before needing them. If you have quest related items in your inventory, you'll manage to come across the right person once. It's just up to you.

The item should be stuck in his inventory then. I have two things that have the name Wylandriah on them and I can't drop them.

Since it is not a marked quest, not sure how that mechanism could be employed. The game does not tally the item or expect you give it to anyone, so it is not a Quest Item.

There is one more item to find for Wylandriah. She is the court wizard for the keep in Riften. Go talk to her and she'll give you hints on where all 3 items are located. Once you find all 3 the quest will finish when you go see her again.

Her quest is kinda bugged. If you pick up one of her 3 items before speaking to her you won't "receive" a quest or update until you have all 3 of them.. then it'll tell you to return them to her in Riften and you can get rid of them and get some rewards. There's a spoon, an ingot, and a soul gem.

See this is what I was wondering, thank you. That's why I asked the question in the 1st place. I got a random quest item I can't get rid of.. with no quest? That's why I was confused. Completely forgot to check this topic after I made it.. must've slipped my mind.

Thanks for all the help guys, appreciate it. I'm going to try and get this done so I can get rid of this frikkin book.. lol.

The book is for Brand-Shei in Riften (the market-stall owner). if youve done the first thieves guild quest, he may be in the jail in riften instead.
