BOSS and Nexus MM cannot write to plugins.txt?

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 2:10 pm

So it would seem my plugins.txt cannot be written to whatever that means... I have it installed in Users > Me > steam > steamapps > common > skyrim.... Nexus mod manager cant activate most mods and boss won't work at all they both have a critical error which is.. " plugins . txt cannot be written to" I looked at the folder it has full permissions. I do not think UAC is any problem here.

So if anyone understands this and can help or point me in the right direction that would be great.

I completely reinstalled skyrim from one hard drive to another on my computer once so maybe that is it??

Boss, NMM, and Wrye Bash all write to the relevant txt files and change load order.

For a little while they didn't, so make sure you're using the latest version.

Edit: Also why install to a place like that? Just install to the default folder it wants to.

Just what plugins you have installed.

Launch skyrim via steam, and it will populate it.

Are you sure that your plugins.txt file is not readonly?

Basically in plugins should be any esps and esms that you have installed: esms first, and then esps in the order in which they need to be loaded - i.e. what boss says or what you think, so it looks like:

awesomesource.esm
checktheswans.esp
etc...

it *should* match the txt file created by Boss.
Assuming you know what you're doing - AND THIS IS ENTIRELY YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY - you can edit the plugins file manually to put in the relevant filenames.
But you do that at your own risk.
