This does tend to be one of the more frequent endings, fighting the Legate leader. Leave comments for your details.

Mine:
He was all liek "k lets see our strenght and fight this otu all fare & sqare and ill crucify u later lolololol"
and then i was all liek three shots to the face w/ brush gun + 2 of them critical hits = lanius has no head anymoar

I dislike boss fights of any kind in any game, but if you're going to have them then atleast give me multiple ways to complete it. It's one of the main reasons why I hated FO2 compared to FO1 since in FO2, afaik, you have to kill Frank and that's about it but in FO1 you can complete the game and not even have to meet the Master

or in FO3, I appreciate the fact that there was no boss fight

Unarmed. I convinced him to have his men back down, so we could duel with honour! No wussy gun firing.

I shoot him once with A Light Shining in Darkness. The only real challenge is the traps on the level below him, though if you have some explosives just use those and the bear traps will shut, the mines will go off, and the rangers will die.

As for Lanius, I use a combo of unarmed and guns, explosives are too risky in close quarters.

I actually did all of the options. I think the most satisfying was unarmed since it seemed the hardest. Speech is one of my favorite ways through the game, but it was much less satisfying with the Legate.

I usually shoot him up, but I've also beat his ass with a sledgehammer once.
Haven't tried the speech option yet.

Ranger Takedown and a Ballistic Fist, for some reason, it still works even though it is a kick or palm strike (depending on perspective)

I always try the speech route first, its just the way I am, but if that doesn't work I'll shoot a punk.

First time I had a glitched encounter where he would run both he, and Boone would charge each other and get right at each other, and Lanius would change to neutral allowing a hidden crit sneak attack. He would then turn hostile... run right up to Boone and turn friendly again... Did this four times, and finally killed him. I often wonder about Boone...

Second time I talked him down... and threw Oliver off the dam.

Third time I killed Oliver with every limb I had broken...
