Both Vampire and Werewolf

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 6:22 am

Today as I was playing, I contracted Vampirism and did not know it. I guess it was when I was rescuing the moth priest when it happened. I discovered it much much later when the sun started to drain my health. It kept telling me that my vampire blood was boiling in the sun. I was well into stage 1.

I went to the Companions and became a werewolf. I went through the quest to kill the silverhand, and after that was over, and I had added 2 points to the werewolf tree, I discovered that I was still a vampire, and had just went into the second stage. So now I am both a vampire and a werewolf.

When I play and have already become a werewolf, I do not contract vampirism. But I have discovered that if you become a vampire, becoming a werewolf does not cure it like it is supposed to.

I have seen threads where people asked if you can be both. Well, I am both. Do not know if it can be repeated, but i do know that if you are a werewolf you cannot become a vampire unless you cure yourself. I also know that for me, if I become a vampire first, that becoming a werewolf does not cure it. At least for me it did not.

Just though I would share that with you.

Well, with Dawnguard it isn't as bad as before because stage 4 vampires aren't attacked on sight.

I know, but I do not like the vampire side, but prefer the werewolf side. I had to go back 3 levels.

It's a bug because it's impossible to become a vampire as a werewolf without losing lycanthropy first.

I know, but to those who would like to be both, it is a good one. But to those who do not want to be both, they have to be a werewolf first. I do not like the vampire because of the daylight thing, but maybe as a dark elf with the 50% resistance to fire, and the guardian stone that you can use to off-set the daylight thing, I might try it. Especially for my mage.

I am werewolf and became vampire in the Soul cairn but don't know how. I already lost a part of my soul to enter and now I have recovered it but still am werewolf and vampire . I hope I will be able to cure vampirism with Falion but it should not have happened.

Guess you found your answer to your question from the "Consequences... partially soul trapped..." thread!

Man, I find being either a vamp or a w'wolf too much to manage - I'd hate to be both at the same time. Good luck with Falion.

Falion does not give you the quest to remove the vampirism for it is not picked up that you are. You can be 20 feet away from anything st all, just standing there watching Serena fight and all of a sudden the screen turns pink, and you get a message that your vampire powers have lessened from feeding, yet you were doing nothing at all. Never happened until they patched the game, and it does not matter if you are a werewolf or not. You still get it.

I hope the game recognizes I'm vampire too and at least some console commands work because I don't want to do it all over again ( I've completed all quests in Soul cairn and discovered eveything) . What a pity, I struggled at level 21 with weakened stats to discover that it is a bug not a special feature of the Soul cairn :(.

edit : Nobody noticed I'm a vampire in Fort Dawnguard, I don"t have the eyes also, just the effects. So no cure via Falion. I used a console command.
Hope it will not mess anything else.

You will be stuck as a stage four vampire for ever if you become a hybrid, the feeding as a werewolf bugs out your vampire side making it impossible to feed as a vampire which leads to perma stage four vampirism. Not that it matters now that they removed the townsfolk attacking you when at stage four.

A little off topic, and I apologize in advance... but.. remember in Morrowind you could actually become a hybrid. You could be both werewolf and vampire at the same time. The downsides were so insane that it was pointless to pursue it (forced transform at night to werewolf and hiding inside during the day as a vamp.. unless navigated through skills/gear). Not only that, but you had the whole "werewolf-form-with-the-head-crown-of-a-balding-man-syndrome".

Even more off topic.. I loved the mod for Morrowind that let you embrace people and I remember setting up shop where the Berne clan once was.

Wow, I love the mod community

Edit: Back on topic.. I think a mixing of blood would be something Bethesda could certainly pursue. Can you imagine an abomination (to use WoD and/or Underworld terms) that take a look at Hircine and Molag Bal in a power struggle with their toys? I think that would be a cool excursion into Oblivion

I can think of a whole DLC related to a hybrid issue. I know it may not be what folks want for this but modders, hear me out. If it could be done correctly I think a clash of Hircine and Molag Bal could result in a blending of species. It could prove interesting to add an excursion through the hunting grounds and Molag Bal's realm to either a) cure both B) cure one or c) continue as a hybrid and defy both Daedric Lords, hereby subjecting you attacks from both princes.

In a way I think it's interesting and think the lore is there to lend support to this kind of conflict for the soul of a character.

I still have TES3 for the computer.. and there are times I want to reinstall and download mods just to turn Vvardenfell into a haven for the undead. Those were indeed.. good times

Wait, I was already a werewolf and somehow got vampirism anyway during the final stage of the Dawnguard main quest. Does this mean I am stuck as a partial vampire?

I too became an unwitting vampire.... One day I came across some Vigilants. They attacked me without cause. I checked my status and found I was a vamp. And I already was a werewolf. And yes, Fallion blithely ignores me when I go to him. I've no desire to be a vamp.... So now I will have to keep an eye on the Active Effects so I can reload and avoid it, as there is no cure apparently ( on xbox - no console cure - if there is one.)

...snip...
Completely off topic, but OP, your avvy reminds me of a painting that was used in a Roger Corman film - The Fall of the House of Usher I think. Where did you get it?
