This was my first Steam purchase and its gone well but I have a question. Will Steam automaticly download patches without input from me?

Yes, unless you use use offline mode.

Yes,unless you tell it not to download them...steam will keep your patches up to date.I dont think it will try and patch while your actually ingame though.

yes steam will update your games fully automatic if you are connected to the internet, if you dont like that behaviour you can disable that for the specific game. Right klick the game in your library and press Settings or Preferences (or whatever its called in english) and on update disable automatic update. That settings will be available if the game is available..

Steam has already released a patch for NV. I had mentioned that in my thread that has disappeared last night.
