So I bought RAGE what a great game

After reading about it being a gimped console port and all the technical problems I wasn't expecting much, but I figured that since a SDK would also be released I could do something with that or someone would release an interesting mod. So there was no risk that my RAGE purchase would suddenly morph into my very expensive Frisbee purchase.

So I install and start her up 15 minutes later I can't believe that this is the same game that people are complaining about, this game is simply fantastic. The combat and animation are great for example once the enemy takes cover they sometimes cower and shoot by just holding up their pistole/rifle its hilarious. Certainly I didn't notice any problem with enemy AI. The graphics are great. The characters are very well thought out and believable at least as good as in any sci-fi movie and the storyline is good. And what no one seems to mention is that this game is a whole lot of fun to play.

ATI graphics cards:
My old rig is a WinXP64 Q6600 4GB RAM and ATi 5770 that last one had me concerned. True my old driver made the game crash instantly. Installing the recommended driver fixed that and the game was zooming along with no crashes at all even with 4 hours plus constant play. So I pushed my luck and installed the latest drivers from ATI (11.11) still not a problem.

General Graphics:
The graphics at their best are unbelievably good almost at a photo realistic level. Yes there is the texture pop that people talk about but its not the big deal that it is made out to be. After 5 minutes I had to make a special effort to even notice. The thing is that the important objects are not effected much just background textures mostly distant rocks etc. Really the texture pop-in is only slightly worse than the blur effect that many games use.

Vehicles:
This was one of my concerns from the gameplay videos I had seen the vehicles really didn't look that impressive and looked like they handled worse. When I got the quad bike it seemed that my suspicions were correct the handling was wooden and nothing special. However I was wrong as you get better models and upgrades the handling and fun improves immensely. In fact now I find myself always looking forward to driving around/racing. The vehicle section is a very well thought out part of the game that rewards you once you master the controls. The buggies themselves are amazingly well detailed with the camera freeview you can see the engine parts and suspension moving. It may just be me but I really enjoyed just examining the detail on these buggies.

If you have been on the fence about this game maybe scared off by negative reviews/posts don't be. This is not just a good game its one of the very best. Its a solid buy at RRP at anything less this is an absolute steal. Seriously I had a great time with RAGE, do yourself a favor and buy this game.

Believe it or not, this quite accurately describes the opinion of the game that most people have. The game works (http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/Catalyst1111aperformance.aspx), it looks great, and it's enormous fun. The negativity is confined to a very small subgroup of haters. svcks, doesn't it?

And they all came here. I can't believe how many times I wanted to stab people for trying pass their opinions off as facts. I wanted to drag them into Oblivion and steal their souls for eternity. :obliviongate:

Just ignore the troll.

I love this game too. Sure it has its flaws including low textures for some objects up close and a rather underwhelming ending level, but if you love single player run-n-gun style gaming all the positives really make up for the negatives. Games like this just don't come along very often.

Trolls are fun. You can play with them and watch them spin round and round, coming out with more and more ludicrous assertions, until they eventually destroy themselves under their own momentum. What could be better than that?

Yus, Rage is collosal fun and a total blast to play. Maybe if someone is a fan of the current trend in ultra-realistic ultra-modern military shooters it won't float their boat, but for mindless mayhem and pure escapism there's not much comes close.

I wish they'd take a hint from Fallout, Portal 2, and other games and add more humor. Doom and Quake I can understand not wanting to add a lot of humor, but like you say its just mindless fun and mayhem. No different from a good B monster movie were directors have learned to either play up the horror or add some humor and sometimes both. In this case, the monsters are cartoonish and just demand more humor.
