Bound Sword leveling Conjuration way too fast?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:48 pm

Just noticed how Bound Sword increases your conjuration skill like 4x or more faster than Bound Battleaxe or Bound Bow, and you can even dual cast it. I wonder, is it just a mistake on Bethesda's part or intented to work that way?
Sad part is I kinda feel like cheating now whenever I cast Bound Sword as I hate skill grinding, but it's still one of my favorite spells at low levels..

Too bad it's not as strong as normal weapons eh? Even a Legendary steel sword has higher damage output. I like the bound spells and I'd use them more often if it weren't for the low damage output.

Still it's not as broken as the "muffled" illusion spell. That one can get illusion from any level to 60+ within 10 minutes. Conjuration only levels when enemies are near.

Interesting to know I guess. Seems off, it isn't the highest level of the bound spells so you would think Bow would give more XP. At least Bow is a powerful bow.

Dremora Lords are the best way to level up Conjuring. If you have 50 Conjuring...Dremora Lords will insantly increase a skill.

I know Dremora Lords give fast Conjuration xp, but at least it makes sense considering it's an Expert level spell and they contribute a lot to the fight. Bound Sword however is a novice spell that barely costs any mana, and for some unknown reason gives a ton more xp than it's counterparts Bound spells that need higher skill levels to cast

Dremora Lord costs about 200-250 mana. You should have no problem conjuring them if you are a Mage/Necromancer in the game.

I have noticed this as well. My guess is you're right. The bound sword spell gives too much XP. It's probably due to the double wielding thing. Perhaps there's a hidden stat that applies where it shouldn't that increases the XP earned.

Bound swords can be quite strong if you pop some fortify wielding on them. I am working on achieving wielding enchant on gauntlets, neck and ring, and anything else i can (if poss) to get a HUGE damage increase. I still have to get savage strikes and dual savagery plus I am only at 4/5 in first one hander talent. Imagine the damage once I get all that with bound weapons lol. Love it!

Actually, the faster xp is from one single casting alone, which doesn't make even more sense considering you can dual cast it unlike Bound Bow and Bound Battleaxe

I know, but those also apply to normal weapons. Dual bound swords max damage is less than half that of a single steel legendary sword. . I think conjured weapons should be weaker than actual steel, but this difference is just rediculous.

Heck, just noticed the same thing happens with Raise Zombie, it gives quite a lot more xp than Revenant for example. You also don't gradually gain xp like with atronachs, just a very big boost once the corpse is reanimated. Wonder what the heck Bethesda was thinking, guess I can understand it with Raise Zombie as the spell won't work anymore after some levels...

Did some more research, Raise Zombie gives just a little bit more xp than Reanimate Corpse, not much of a difference. Revenant however gives a little less than half that value though....
Still wondering what Bethesda had in mind with those values
