Bound Swords

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 9:48 am

How is the damage done by a bound weapon calculated. Would my bound sword be governed by the one-handed skill? If so, does it raise my one-handed skill? I'm curious to see how this works so I can decide which direction to take my character.

Thanks,
Aric

Yes, it raises your One-Hand skill and is governed by the One-Handed skill. It also raises your Conjuration skill.

Thanks for the speedy response. That was answer I was looking for. I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy my current character.

Be warned that the bound sword and axe are pretty weak compared to higher level regular weapons, the bound bow is decent only due to factors that don't apply to them - it's lack of weight makes it draw faster and it comes with daedric quality arrows. A bound sword or axe will be outperformed by most weapons that are improved by a character with mid to high level smithing, and the gap widens when enchants get factored in.

It has to be noted that for a character who doesn't use Smithing and Enchanting bound weapons are a very attractive alternative to traditional weapons. With the Mystic Binding perk bound sword and battleaxe equal their glass counterparts, and bound bow is more powerful than daedric.
