Bounties and stealing

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 1:09 pm

In Oblivion, it was annoying when you got a bounty (eg kill someone in Chorrol) and when you arrived somewhere else (eg Bruma) you had the bounty there too. It was annoying because there were no telephones and it was hard to understand how cities far apart could communicate so quickly regarding your bounty.

This was fixed in Skyrim by making it that every city/region has its own bounty. i like this. i also liked the 'kill the last witness' feature and you bounty is gone.

Something that annoys me though. if i steal something and remain undetected whilst in the act (eg a mammoth tusk from the bannered mare in Whiterun) then why can i not sell it to a merchant in Solitude or Markarth etc

How would a merchant in Solitude or Markarth know it was stolen? What i am saying is that you shouldn't need a fence in the Thieves Guild to sell stolen items, you should be able to use a normal merchant as 1) they dont know it's stolen and 2) you weren't caught stealing

Does anyone think this will be changed in the next Elder Scrolls game? do you want it to be?

Anyone agree? Unless Hulda engraves "Huld's Mammoth Tusk" onto it, I dont see how some dude in Solitude or Markarth would know it was stolen?

Makes sense. Guess the devs overlooked this.

I have to agree with you, unless you lift some high profile items, or personalized items which need to be added IMO to the richer houses in each city then you shouldnt need a fence to get rid of the items in a different hold.
