Isnt it ridiculous that you can get a bounty when you kill someone while hidden? Oh sure, the person screamed, but if the guards can't see anyone, who are they putting the bounty on? Like "oh lets put a bounty on someone we don't know, but im pretty sure its that dragonborn guy because it must be him".

Also, sometimes i still get a bounty after killing everyone in the area; is this a bug or is this supposed to happen?

This just happened to me a few minutes ago. Assassinated Brenuin in Whiterun, remained hidden, yet 1000 bounty appears

do you have a follower perchance?

Yea. But i thought followers didnt give bounties? When im stealing stuff, i don't incur bounties even when my follower is staring right at me as i sweep the house clean

Had it happen to me a few times, just chalked it up to medieval CSI. They saw arrow trajectory or some such.

Save just before you do it and move to a location that has little or no line of sight other than the eyes of your target.

You made an attack though.

It's kind of like when you enter into combat in a Bandit Camp or wherever, if you have a Follower and you make an attack the Follower will immediately charge in. There's also the nuisance of if you summon something while hidden in combat it can auto reveal you. I was in a Draugr dungeon and was completely hidden behind a corner, summoned an Atronach, and every Draugr knew exactly where I was.

Really, really hate when an entire town attacks me because I attacked a chicken.

I did that on my first playthrough, in riverwood and alvor started bashing me with his damned 2h weapon; had to reload.

I killed an entire group of soldiers in the wilderness I go into town and I get killed. Psychic guards, its classic.

I had an opposite experience in Markarth on one character: I decided to resist arrest at the tail end of a certain quest, wiped the guards, and left the location I was in, only to be accosted by more guards. I chose to resist again and got the usual 1000 bounty for killing the first one, but after the whole squad died it was removed due to lack of witnesses, despite there being a bystander to the massacre not 30 feet away.

Either he deliberately ignored the whole mess, or he somehow did not see the initial kill; as it was done in plain sight on a staircase I don't know how he failed to observe it, unless the quest's script overrides the usual report mechanism.
