Bows doing significantly less damage than pre-1.6

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 8:37 pm

I just installed patch 1.6 on my 360 and noticed that my bows are shown at about 100 dmg less than what they were before I installed this patch. Anyone else experiencing this?

EDIT: I just noticed in the patch notes that it says that bow damage was being calculated incorrectly, which I guess is the reason for this. It is kind of a stealth nerf. I went from one shotting everything but dragons, mammoths, and dragon priest to having to pick off a draugr scourge. Meanwhile, my 1h swords are still ridiculous.

The Bow damage pre-1.6 was being miscalculated from what it was designed to be. The miscalculation was causing Bows to give out way more damage than they were ever meant to.

1.6 has fixed the hidden math that runs the game, so your bow is actually, finally doing its correct damage, OP.

But this can be mitigated by having certain Perks in the Sneak and Archery Skill Tree's.

My Assassin's are still one-shotting most everything with their bows, because of upgrading through Smithing, and the aforementioned, well-placed Perk points.

I haven't really noticed anything with my bow damage...maybe its because of the daedric bow and arrows?

It's definatly lessoned the damage, however I still one shot everything but dragons and mammoths so it's not that bad. Feels more of a challenge and I quite enjoy it :D

My Assassin is just making more use of poisons (especially at low levels) than he ever did pre-1.6.

But that's a double bonus as it also helps my burgeoning Alchemy Skill. :D

Did I read rightly that the 1.5 bug only displayed an incorrect number, but the Bow itself still did the correct amount of damage? I had assumed the Bow as doing excessive damage as I was finding it a bit too easy to kill things, so I'm looking forward to 1.6 as I'm working on a new character, who's going to be a Master Archer.

On my wood elf archer I maxed alchemy, enchanting and smithing and used a combination of all three to make leather armor hit the armor cap and my daedric bow over 500 dmg. And frankly it got boring fast 1 shooting everything except dragons.

I like a challenge, but I turned my character into a ranged juggernaut and I kind of regretted it. But that's just me.
