Boxes instead of ceratin words

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:57 pm

Hey guys,

I just thought that you should know that my Brink has certain words that come up with boxes instead, but not complete boxes. More like badly coloured in boxes. This doesn't affcet gameplay whatsoever but it annoys me. I think it is my graphics card that might need more support so here are my specs:

ATI Radeon HD 6850 Gigabyte Overclocked
Unlocked AMD Phenom II X2 550 to X4 B50 (So it's an X4 B50)
Gigabyte Mobo MA790XT-UD4P
6 Gb Corsair RAM
And 4 HDD's (Irrelevant I think...)

Thanks guy's and gal's for your help and hopefully Splash Damage or gamesas come across this forum topic and fix it...

Theres a reason they say "Pictures tell a thousand words". Its because they show problems better then most people can explain them.

I'm having the same issue and I have a GeForce 560 ti. Not game breaking but annoying to read weapons.

Thanks!

Ya just came across this after the patch as well although the only place I've seen it is on where its supposed to say Redeployment, the numbers were fine just the word was a bunch of boxes.

I believe the correct term to use is "corrupted characters". Yes, my friends and I have all had various characters and numbers in game (not the main menus) start showing corrupted characters very shortly during gameplay. Only seems to happen in the game proper and scoring screen but not the main menus. Have seen it on player's names, score, buff selection "X" and so on. It does not effect gameplay but it is annoying that you can not sometimes see scores printed at the end of a game or during at times. And yes, this was not doing this before today's patch.

It's a problem the developers are aware off, I'm sure that it will be fixed very soon.

After the patch, I started seeing these as well. Nvidia GTX 460. Not so good when patches introduces new bugs, though, makes me worried about the verification process (or rather lack thereof).

Having the same issue here to, besides the redeployment text being garbled. The press X to revive, the X is also garbled. I tried all different graphic settings. SysSpecs in Sig.

Ya this is called artifacting and It becomes an issue usually when video cards are overclocked wrong. But I have the same issue and mine is not and I am sure all of yours is not either. My guess is that with the recent patch that corrected gridding it caused another issue. Just a couple more tweaks they need to work on. Other that that and the FPS issue I still find this to be an amazing game. This should all be resolved with in another week my bet.

It looks like the font texture in RAM got screwed. eg, 'pushed' over from it's intended offset. Hard to explain, but it's definitely an issue of it being stored or retrieved incorrectly from RAM (ie, stored as a 500x600x8, read as a 200x800x8)

Ahh, finally found this thread, that's the exact issue I'm experiencing. Hopefully this gets fixed soon, as I have a tournament coming up and I don't want to miss out on the scoreboards and stuff.

GForce GTX 460M here as well.

I've been see the boxxy text ingame and on the server browser. I really didn't care about it until I couldn't read the server browser.

I have not had it happen in the server browser yet, but i have had text artifacting in other menus now. Weapon text is almost always garbled for me.
