This is just horrible, how could anyone consider doing that?

They wanted to see what would happen if they did.

On a slighty less horrific note.

You can freeze wasps and yellow jackets in a deep freezer then reanimate them in the microwave for about 15 seconds.

What pisses me off isn't so much that he put a hamster in a microwave, but that he got jail-time for it. Yes, microwaving a hamster is a bad thing, but where he was sent was much, much worse.

I think that he should go to an anger management meeting, but to jail? Think about it. You kill a hamster and you get jail-time. A hamster. It seems odd to me just how big of a deal people are making aver this.

15 seconds? And then what?

Whenever a story like this comes up, I don't even know what to say, aside from what ever [censored] that did this has some kind of severe mental condition. What could have possibly gone through his mind to commit such an atrocity? When I read the title, I thought of a little kid, 4 or 5. But no. He's 16! He should to go juvy for longer than that.

It's still severe animal cruelty. A hamster feels just as much as anything else does. It really makes no difference what kind of animal it is.

your belittling the situation by breaking it down into "just killed a hamster", this was animal cruelty, as the hamster was not dead it was suffering greatly until they put it down

It's not as if this kind of stuff is unheard of. Not that I think it's normal, or that I am Ok with it. Hell, we had a group of skids who would torture and skin hamsters out in the back of the school...

Well, he'll probably learn to think before doing something now. Kinda pity both him and the hamster, though.

I've never liked the little things.

Animal cruelty has always been a sore spot for me. You can get sent to jail for 10 years for mistreating your dog, but people convicted of of attempted murder get away with only 2 years...

Not that I'm cruel to my animals, I just don't like how people get so worked up over it.

This better not be blamed on Maniac Mansion.

It's a horrible thing, but I don't find it at all surprising as some people seem to. Little kids/teenagers and small animals aren't exactly famous for getting along.

I know someone who's cousin put a cat in a microwave. He says that ever since then the cat will seize up randomly. It makes my a little depressed.

I think jail time will serve him right 10 years is a bit much but animal cruelty always gets to me so I might be a bit bias.

ive heard that serial killers practiced on animals first. sure, its a hamster but an animal is still an animal and if you kill one like that you should be put into prison. in my area, a teenager gutted a dog and he is going to go to jail; oh, but its just a dog.

I am not happy about a topic on animal cruelty like this. I am sitting on this topic, and condoning, suggestions of retribution or inappropriate posts get a warning and a topic close.

That sounds just plain ol evil. Like he was taking some kind of sick pleasure in it. Now I'm not sure what the hamster murderers motives where, so I should not judge at this stage. If he, in fact, got some kind of twisted pleasure from watching that hamster get cooked alive, then he needs some serious help.

I do not believe in the whole idea of jail to begin with. Jail is not a good thing. People need help, they don't need to be cooped up in a place with people just like them (and worse).

Does that count as political? If it does then I'll stop. Strike that. I'm just going to stop anyway.

Bye bye thread. I do not want any more to do with this sensitive issue.

Why would anyone do that in the first place? That kid must've been seriously messed up. and people get so worked up about animal cruelty stuff. It's really bad and all that, but still... At least he didn't put his brother in the microwave...

I agree. I mean I think we've all commited "animal cruelty" before. I used to shoot lizards in the back yard with bb guns.

I find the comments more disturbing than the article. Many people want to see the boy brutally tortured and burned alive. Really, now? <_<

That's quite common relating to stuff like this. (Small) animals can't defend themselves, so it pisses off people (like me) that someone would torture them, and angry people make (way) overblown comments.

True, but it says a lot about people. What if they were in a position of power and were allowed to do what they wanted with the boy? It's pretty unsettling, if you ask me. Thankfully, they're just random [censored]s on the internet.

15 seconds? And then what?

15 seconds on high. Then they fly again.
I wouldn't suggest trying this, I think I just got lucky with my weird science cocktail

Factory-Raised Chicken. Its whats for dinner, tonight.

The hamster thing is messed up, but this gets my "congratulations humanity" award.
