I know Bethseda continues to say, "No multiplayer." But think about this. What if they brought back the Arena from Oblivion?

Think about it. In Skyrim they could add multiple Arenas. I am not suggesting making several large ones but rather several smaller ones and then one large one that stands alone as the main piece in a city. If they were to add smaller arenas they could be as simple as small pits with a few bleachers around it, to the size of the Colosseum we know of in Rome. The smaller arenas could be where a combatant starts off his/her gladiator career. As you continue to win fights then you would continue to move up to more difficult fights. Each area would have some sort of a boss at the end and by defeating it, you would move onto the next bigger/ more difficult arena. You would eventually make it to the largest arena in Skyrim and fight for the title of Grand Champion of Skyrim.

Bethseda could also add a lot more monster into the game through this new arena setup along with new items/ weapons.

I'll continue to post ideas as they come or get posted.

Feel free to leave comments/ thoughts/ advice. Thanks!

Subjects like that are more than annoying. You'll get just as much response with a simple "I want arenas back" or even "Arenas?"

This. Frankly most regard that as pure spam.

But for topic I agree. It would have been nice to have say, an official Arena in Solitude and Windhelm, and a brawling ring in Riften.

You don't need to apologize or say you feel bad. Just don't do it next time and problem solved. Another tip to avoid getting called a spammer: Actually stay on topic.

I don't recall anything being said officially about an Arena, but I stopped following the coverage after the GI exclusives stopped. It would have been a nice feature to have. Does anyone have a list of things officially stated by Bethesda to compare to what happened? :P

I wish we did have some sort of arena function. I mean considering Skyrim's overarching theme is that the Empire is fractured, it doesn't have to be such a grand place like the Arena from Oblivion but come on! Think about it, almost every guild should have an arena:

The Companions could have a brawling feature where you could brawl using swords, shields, or only fists. College of Winterhold should have some sort of magical duel system to the death in the case of animals and until they yield in the case of people. Even the Thieves Guild could host some sort of fight club!

Heck, why isn't there a fight club in the bigger cities?

I'm not sure, but just because they said something will be in Skyrim and its not in it right now; it doesnt mean it wont be in a DLC later on. =)

a ) i would love to see the arena make a return, so far it has been in every elderscrolls game ive played, and i miss telling people who piss me off to meet me in the arena.
b ) i think the only multiplayer i would ever want to play in an tes game would be an arena where your pc can battle my pc, maybe even wager items or gold.
c ) i really hope it makes a return in the dlc. i play on ps3 for now so that is unlikely however i will eventually own skyrim on pc and if no one has made an arena mod by then i surely will.

edit: b + ) = unwanted emoticon.

I like the thought of a mages duel arena! Thatd be pretty cool to have combat style specific fights. (All range, melee, or mage, and of course the option for whatever)

Right now? No. We need the CK for something that big.

Here is my advice. NO MULTIPLAYER . How many ways do we have to say no? There is enough multiplayer out there so go there for your fix.

an Arena-like mod would be pretty sweet, imo, though I'm all for underground brawling in Riften

strip to your skivvies, and fist-fight!

The Arena in Oblivion was 100% nonsense and had no possibility of functioning as depicted in the game. Here's a post I made last year under a different username (which I lost when I changed my password because of the hack :( )

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1153456-imperial-city-arena-entertainment-or-genocide/page__fromsearch__1
We all know the imperial city arena, a good way to make money and get some combat experience. What you might not realize, is by participating in the arena you are taking part in a massive scale genocide.

You may remember how advancement works in the arena. 3 wins advances you to the next level, and all fights are to the death. So if you advance from Pit Dog to Brawler it means 3 people had to die. To advance from Brawler to Bloodletter a combatant must kill 3 more people, but remember that combatants only fight others of the same rank, so to get to bloodletter requires the death of at a bare minimum 9 competitors (3 brawlers with 3 kills each), and this is assuming that each combatant has the minimum kills required to enter each rank.

And there are 7 ranks plus a champion.

Each Hero rank combatant required the death of at the very least 2187 participants, and there are at very least 3 heroes and one champion (requiring 6561 deaths minimum) on the yellow team. Again, this is assuming ideal progression.

Since matches between high rank combatants seem to happen fairly often (you can get a match set up whenever you want), I think we're looking at a wholesale slaughter on the scale of hundreds of thousands or millions per year.
