Bring back the Dwemer!

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 3:36 pm

I love the dwemer, if only they were back in the game, or even an upcoming sequel. Anybody else have the same desire as me for Bethesda to bring back to dwemeri race and some sort of questline related to them?

I would love to see them come back. That half-blob, half-machine in the basemant of one of the mage towers in Morrowind doesn't count.

I'd certainly like to ask the Dwemer some questions after playing Skyrim, but no, thank you.
They were brilliant and technologically extremly advanced which is what makes them so fascinating - from a safe distance. There is a fine line between genius and insanity, and I think the Dwemer just might have crossed that line. They've got to be the most sadistic lot I've encountered in the game, and that's saying something, because we get to meet a lot of people who are obviously not quite right in the head. So no, I'd rather not see them return. Finding out more about them? Yeah, why not, but I'd like to avoid being their next test subject. Who knows what else they might come up with.

I'd love for it to happen, maybe they will for the upcoming DLC?

Otherwise, I don't see them coming back.

If they came back, I'd want to see them as an evil race like the falmer rather than another option for a playable race.

I think many make the mistake of picturing them as wearing dwarven armor but this is made by modern day Tamriel smiths out of scavenged dwemer metal parts.

I'd like to see them as an un-armoured smaller weaker bodied mer who rely more on science and hiding behind machinery than brawn and strength. Like an evil scheming race of egg heads. What they did to the falmer was wrong.

I somehow think Skyrim heralds their impending return.

But the same can be said about Oblivion and the Ayleids.

nnnnNNNNNNOOOOOOoooo thank you. I'm very understanding of most of the retcon, but that is one scenario that would put a knot in my knickers. Part of what makes the Dwemer so rad is the fact that they are gone, never to return.

dwemer are an average hight, shorter than altmer but not bosmer short. and actually they did wear heavy armor, i think chivarimidum whatever its called is about that. or hope of the redoran i'm not sure. basically they (the chimer) think the dwarves gave them an automaton but it was just a dwemer in heavy armor.

thats not how it looks in skyrim, everything in skyrim seems to seem like they MEANT to disappear and return.

where does it say this? I know dwarven armor isn't actually dwemer armor

If I recall correctly, Giants gave the Dwemer the name "dwarves" not that they were short (I believe they are the height of an Imperial) but it was because, well, everyone is short compared to a Giant.

That's debatable. Even if that were the case, that doesn't mean I have to like the idea. I will concede that their mysterious disappearance leaves the means for their return open, but I think it would be a terrible mistake of the writing crew to just write the Dwarves back into existence because of popular demand.

thats because the entire race disappeared at once in one instant... do you think because they left all their bowls and bedding out that the people of Pompey are just bidding their time to come back? no.

Oblivion and Skyrim Dwarven armor is made from existing scrap, but if I recall correctly, the Dwarven armor from Morrowind was what the Dwemer wore themselves (correct me if I'm wrong).

I thought it was a corruption of the word Dwemer, much like Ra'Gada became Redguard. Dwemer itself means something akin to "Deep Elves".

Pompeii had a volcano, they didn't just disappear...

The last two installments of TES have been about somebody who has appeared out of nowhere (player) and everyone is just like, "OMG you're of the Gods", something or other coming to Tamriel, scaring the sh*** out of everyone, for the Dovahkiin/Champion of Cyrodiil to destroy, and the bad things having crazy people who worship it/them (Mythic Dawn/Greybeards). Why not spice it up a bit by adding a new story line?
Maybe the dwemer reappear, say 50 years after Skyrim, and start to repopulate the ruins. Maybe some crazy people (TES' trademark item... CRAZY PEOPLE!!) build a third Numidium made of godly objects only for it to turn bad and the gods needing to take part in destroying the object, whatever. OOh, good storyline.

I definately would like them to remain secret. One of my favorite characteres in morrowind was that ancient mage in geniss who told you some crazy stories about his theories into the dissapearence of the dwarves. Stuff like the dissapearence of the dwarves gives the seires a really cool sense of internal history that most games dont have and makes it more realistic in the sense that no one today thinks the ancient sumerians or carpathians are going to pop out of no where and be a civilization again (even though their decendents still exist its like dwemer are the fantasy version of a no longer exisinting civilization)

actually, there are very strong hints in skyrim that they meant to return. it'd be spoilerrific to put it out there, but do the quest where the crazy argonian gives you a lexicon.

this is one of the fuzzy areas of TES, yes it does say in some instances that dwarven armor is made from their scrap metal, and in skyrim you can do it. but you also find dwarven armor and weapons in dwemer ruins, and some of the in game books depict the dwarves using heavy armor.

as to people questioning the size, there is no question. play morrowind, there are dwemer ghosts in some of the ruins, they are average hight. or arternativaly go to uesp.net or some other wiki.
