Bring 20 Nirnroot, Deathbell, Nightshade to Ignun Blackbriar

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 4:10 am

I have 20 of each and am getting close to maxing out alchemy. But these are some of the best ingredients and I want to know if i'm getting a good deal by giving 20 of each for this quest. I did some research and saw that you get a key to her chest that restocks potions ever couple days. But i'm an alchemist and can just make these myself so doesn't seem like i'd use it very often. Are they powerful potions and is the money reward good?

actually i was just getting ready to do this too, i have been storing all the ones i find all game so when i was ready i could go to her and i would already have them, mainly because i was hoping she would become a candidate marriage afterwards, since i helped her. does anybody know if she does? but btw, i never finished it in my other game, so im not sure if its worth it, not trying to change your topic sorry. i would imagine the nirnroots are alot to give away since they don't grow back, and they can be used for invisibilty potions, and i dont know the other 3 uses but i imagine they would be decent potions. i guess it's a deep pondering decision for you, but i'd say do it, since you can always buy them from alchemy shops for not that much gold, if you picked the whole world dry. or there is always the crimson version, but idk what that does other than the quest u get from them.

Never finished the quest either myself so I don't know if the reward is worth it but I do know that unfortunately she isn't marriable. I think she's one of the bestr looking NPC's out there

They're random generic potions like "Enchanter's Elixer" and "Fortify Alteration" types.

I seem to remember the gold being a good bit too.

I'll probably do it. I have so many ingredients stashed away I don't know what to do with them. Anyone know what the exact gold amount you get is? Would it be better making potions out of them and selling them?

Potions make for nice gold earners not that its needed but I did get an ultimate healing potion once, imagine you could get it again which considering there is nothing better then them makes it worth it for a freebie once in a while, even then you can sell the potions you don't want and buy more from the same shop you pick them up in.

Also considering this is the only quest that uses the "rare" nirnroots you find and theres no awesome option of making nighteye potions and adventuring potions with them, you might as well, if you really want to make invisibly or resist magic with them you have other options and they frequently turn up for sale from alchemists plus they do actually respawn (that may be a bug though, when in game sources say they don't). basically more reason to do it then not.

There are plenty of ingredients in the game to go around and she's not asking for anything really rare, so why not just do it? As for here chest, there are usually decent poisons among them, but nothing that's better than what you can make yourself if you're a skilled alchemist. :)

A bit off-topic, but does anyone else find Ingun Black-Briar very creepy? She's a bit too interested in poison making. She'd make a good Dark Brotherhood recruit. :P

I bought most of mine from merchants. Solitude has a fair amount of nightshade on the streets. i think you get ~1000 coin, not sure cause i dropped em off each separately. You get more coin each time you make a drop at the quest giver. yer basic cash quest.

I finished the quest because I thought I would get the option to marry Ingun Black-Briar, but you don't :( I wanted her as a wife because her creepy poison obsession goes well with my character's creepy necromancy obsession, being a Black-Briar wouldn't be so bad either >:3
I think you get 400 gold for each turn in, 1,200 total. Which is decent at a low level. I usually grab it right away with a new character because I always join the Dark Brotherhood off the bat and you have to go to Riften.

I have a number of gathering quests just ticking along in the background, nirnroot, nightshade, fire salts etc...

Just keep getting one every now and then and stash them in my chest at Breezehome.

I finished that quest for the sole purpose of ending the annoying on screen prompts every time I picked up Nightshade. "Bring 20 blah blah blah..." so you might as well. Can find all the ingredients with some ease in the right spots. But if it doesn't bother you, just hold onto the stuff.

I already had all the requested ingredients stashed in my house, so for 2250 gold and to clear the quest, it was worth it.

Do most people not hang round long enough to find out about the real quest reward of a respawning chest of free potions? if you think the gold turn in was worth it that will blow your mind when you get an on going income with some acually useful potion.

I just used the console to spawn the items. I'm dragonborn, not FedEx guy.

I did it not like there is a time line she needs it by just gathered the crap in my travels she gave me 750 gold per item and the key to the chest so not bad for just grabbing stuff as I ran by

She gave me 750 gold for each ingredient, and the Key to her chest in the back said I could take whatever I want, she'll be restocking it every few days. I haven't been back there yet since I am not hurting for potions at all. Since she is an alchemist, she should keep it stocked with some useful potions.

Same here, but I never got her all three so I don't know if there is anything special for that. Also it does not open her up for Marriage or anything else so it is kinda pointless.

Not worth it if you make your own potions. She's supposed to leave potions for you in a chest in the store but I keep going back and it's empty. Lazy slug, I want my nightshade back!

I ended up handing her the damn ingredients, just to get rid of the highly annoying on-screen promts every time I got or picked or dropped any of the ingredients on her list, and I got some fairly neat potions from her, besides the gold.

On my 2nd play-through, I just used the console...

I think it's worth it. The rewards are neverending and always powerful. Not just a one-off of some gold or something, but a gift that keeps on giving.

Ingunn finally got off her duff so I took a http://i678.photobucket.com/albums/vv146/gmosko/ingunn.jpg of what was in the chest. It's random, but this gives you an idea. If you ask me, it's not much for all the running around unless you a) like to pick flowers and b ) don't do alchemy yourself.
