Bring Skyrim to MAC!

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 10:05 pm

Mac users are currently being left out when it comes to Skyrim. Alot of ppl are running it on bootcamp with windows but I personally do not want to spend the extra money on getting Windows 7. It would be great if Bethesda just brought Skyrim to Mac via Steam, cuz I know that I've been following the Elder Scrolls Series since Morrowind, and I don't intend on playing it solely on console. Bethesda could bring it over easily

A while back someone had a 99% done mac conversion thread, but coding for mac and coding for windows are two separate things there is too small of a mac fanbase to even code the entire thing and make it worth it.

They would have to change the name then, and 'TES 4S : Skyrim' just wouldn't sound right.

Sorry, but if you ever took a look at the marketshare and then try to balance that against the compatibility headaches of trying to support a Mac version for a very small number of people, it just doesn't work out.

They couldn’t even make a decent port for the play station lol, but they can easily do it for the MAC fans?

There seems to be some progress made, try a search on Google. Seems to be two options, Bootcamp or using a wrapper.

Can't help you out any further as I don't own a Mac. You're probably better off just getting Windows and dual booting if you really want to play it.

You chose to "look cool", so you really shouldn't complain when you have practical use problems.

Not many things in this world are both aesthetic and practical.

There's a saying in my language which means you'll live a much better life if you do things by yourself instead of asking others to do them.

So like what other people say, bootcamp is the better solution.

Actually, it's Windows that goes "the other way". Most other operating systems on micro-computers are Unix based. They are also much more reliable and easier to maintain.

I definitely disagree with these statements unless you misinterpreted the word practical.

In a perfect world companies would work together to make it easier for the costumers. Also, i svck with computers so i dont really know what you are talking about :(

This is of course entirely debatable considering the market share windows has. Of course Microsoft often ignores open standards or promotes its own systems (DirectX vs OpenGL) but with the market share windows has it would be smarter for Apple to just adopt and accept instead of what they are doing now. At least if they want a larger gaming community.

made my day

Macs are for people who want to be "special" and "cool". Now deal with it that you are "special" and "cool" to not to play Skyrim

PS: Asking myself how many posts we get trough before the thread getting closed :bunny:

I think it's possible. Don't both the PS3 and Mac use Opengl?

Today's Macs are just Wintel machines with a different operating system and slightly different firmware. Why not just installing Windows on a partition?
