Brink/SD appreciation thread

Post » Mon Jun 13, 2011 11:43 am

Let's talk about what we love about Brink and share some cool moments. This forum is in need of a little (or a lot) of love and I wanted to show my support for SD.... because I want them to continue to refine and support this awesome title.

I'll start, I love the capacity for teamwork that Brink offers in the way of the multiple buffs you can administer to yourself, but more importantly your team mates. The variety of abilities I also find to go deeper than other shooters as well, be it passive or aggressive.... so many little subtle nuances, but yet very balanced compared to other shooters. Finally, I love the fact that Brink is not a twitch shooter. The guns have recoil and the health is perfect for the kind of game this is.... I hate games where one bullet to the pinky toe is fatal.

And the other night, I did my first sliding knife kill and my first wall vault knife kill..... can't do that in BFBC or COD.

Long live Brink.

I played a few matches on BFBC2 with the whole lobby full of real people with no lag.

Can't do that in Brink.

Haters gonna hate.

This morning I played 6 games in competition mode with full teams. The last minutes of Shipyard were extremely intense. We lost with 10% left on the hack box but damn that was some of the most intense gaming Ive ever had.

I really enjoy playing this game.
Almost every game has amazing moments.

I tried to create a pro-brink thread a couple of weeks ago but most of the posters just wanted to trash it.

I play with several members of this forum regularly and it is a blast. I'm still finding new routes or being shot from places I didn't expect.

Oh yeah, SLIDING KNIFE KILL FTW! awesome dude, can't say I've seen that yet. Or the wall jump one either that I know of.

I love the INTENSITY of this game. LONG firefights with several players running, sliding, bouncing, and just general chaos you won't find in most
other FPSs.
I wish BC2 had the lack of stats like this game, maybe then I could find a game with less than 6 wookies per team.

Can't deny I'm about to piss myself waiting for BF3 though!

I saw a lot of wookies on the 360, but not on the pc. But you can always do something about them. Like smoke or ruin their vision with tracers

RIIIGHT.... so I'm looking for a teamwork oriented game, and you're telling me to focus on screwing with my own team..... great advice bud.

BC2 has open maps, Brink's are super super linear. It's hard not to go to the objective as a team. Not really that much team oriented imo :)

I love how there aren't boring sniper duels in Brink... it's not fun to start with a G3 & iron sights just to be sniped from the other side of a map from some tool with a fully-specced M21.

Like I said, I'm playing on pc an I have yet to be frustrated by a team of wookies (which usually happened to me on the 360). But if it's REALLY that big of a problem just spend a minute or two trolling them so they switch. It always works.

I've played my fair share of BFBC2 and it has it's moments but most of the time the gameplay consists of run and capture this command post, then onto the next while the other team takes the one you just took and then proceed to run around in circles chasing your tail.... it's become stale for me. Like another poster said, you just don't get the capacity for those super intense down to the wire moments in other shooters like you do in Brink. Like in shipyard, when I stepped on a mine trying to repair the crane.... I was stuck, calling for help in between shooting oncoming enemies and repairing the crane. Nobody disabled the mine but it didn't matter because after I handled the wave with help from my team, I finished repairing the crane with only less than ten seconds left.

yeah i loooove bbc2 with a passion and will probably glue my ps3 drive shut once i put bf3 in , i have had alot of really intense fights in conquest or rush but there not as frequent as in brink for whatever reason....and strangely enough as dynamic and tactical as that game can be it still suffers from a lack of teamwork outside of who i can communicate directly with , kdr is still king in that game and alot of players play it that way ......

I know this is a big thing for some people, but I am not the best FPS guy, but I really love them. What I love is there is no instant death by head-shots. I know I am probably going to get a lot of crap like, "Oh look at the noob, can't headshot!" But it is true. I like that you can be advanced and just starting and it is still fun. But don't get me wrong, I have played with some guys on here that I never see die, you guys are awesome. I love when a really good player is on my team, I know for sure it will be a good match or we will win. I will continue to play Brink, I cannot count the times I have turned it on to play, then I look at the clock and hours have passed, it is like 2:00 am in the morning, and I am like, holy crap I need to go to work!!!

I love slicing corners with the Gotlung, and the ensuing enemy dropped in a second.

I love my Drognav with Coga, and repeatedly tapping peoples heads.

And one of my all time favorite activites is constantly retaking command posts and fortifying them with mines and a turret. I wish command posts could be used as forward spawns.

That would be awesome. You have to wonder, "they had to have thought of that", right? I wonder what the argument against it was if they did.

I was with some friends we were all light for the fun of it.

And all with did was wall jump everywhere and the other team could not kill us. The moment we saw the enemy we ran for the wall and started hopping. Of course we did it for fun and we didn’t expect to win but we did.

We did it on aquarium, and resort. But the other teams were kind bad, but still it was fun.

I've found myself yelling quotes from Lord of the Rings in this game such as:

"BRING HIM DOWN LEGALOS!"

or

"YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

This game is epic and as one person stated standing on a mine while fighting enemies while completing an objective. That's just neat and cool and completely ausom. A few days ago I was without a soldier near by and was dry on bullets I started taking down enemies with slide tackles, melee strikes and switching to my knife. It was like my MW2 days when the only weapon I used was my knife and magnum. This game is pretty good and if anyone is reading this debating on picking it up do it. Add some people for what ever platform you play from here or the Splash Damage forum and get some full games going. You won't be disappointed and feel pretty punk rock going against all the hate and mainstream bull crap people sling everywhere.

Nice to see a solid positive thread that hasnt been derailed by the trolls! I love attacking on BRINK, playing offense has led to some of the most intense gameplay that Ive ever experienced. I think my favorite was killing 2 engineers that were disarming my hack box on shipyard in the last 30 seconds and then winning in OT while my buds held off the incoming spawn wave.
Launch was a bit rocky but theyve all but solved the lag problem on 360, I cant remember when I got booted from a game or had too much lag to play. We'll see where Im at once GoW3, BF3, MW3 come out later in the year, but until then Ill be scratching my FPS itch with BRINK!
