Brink Box Art

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:53 am

Alright so I've been lurking for awhile, and following this game for months and months. I'm really looking forward to this game; I have high hopes for it and I am really liking the way this game is straying a bit from the "realism" in modern games that is simply becoming overplayed.

This might seem like an irrelevant concern to most people, and I even have to admit; the box art is not going to decide whether or not I purchase the game. With that said, I have to admit that I think the current proposition for the box art is absolutely hideous. It looks like the cover of a Tony Hawk skateboarding game or something.

I think the light-blue color could go away, and the guy diving across the middle needs to leave too.

I'd consider a darker background color with a multitude of other colors to portray the array of colors evident in the actual gameplay. Presentation is important, and might play into your fanbase quite a bit more than you might have thought. There's a reason I still have my Starcraft 2 box sitting on my desktop where I can constantly see it, lol.

Call me a dork, call me what you want -- but I go out of my way to buy retail copies of games because I like having the box, and the instruction manual. They are my advlt version of "new shiny toys".

So please, consider changing the box art to something darker, something with a little more impending quality; not some skateboarder "dude" flying through the sky.

Cheers.

I have to agree. The dude on the box is just really ugly and OP was right, it needs a larger variety of color.

I think this may be one of the few cases where the gameplay looks better artistically than the box art.

I like http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B003Z71YCI/ref=s9_simh_gw_p63_d2_i1?pf_rd_m=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&pf_rd_s=center-1&pf_rd_r=1TJNC8GRJ2Q83VW2TRMA&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=463375193&pf_rd_i=301128 design. The only thing that is really ugly is the "Games for Windows" banner. Besides I would like to see this "The Arch" sign as a big watermark instead. But this simple design with that unusual color is really cool and kinda unique. I really like it.

I like that one better than the one with Tony Hawk Mctwisting across the middle of it.

I posted in the splash damage forums about having multiple box arts much like blizzard games and the NCAA football series, and the pokemon games.

This will definitely make collectors buy 2 copies of the same game rather than 1. Although I suggested it for Splash Damage's next game, if we were to put this on brink, one box will have a security guy on it with the blue background that is already used in the existing box art, while the other box art will have a resistance guy with an orange background.

Maybe they could have a dark blue room with that shot of the resistance and security guys in the customization trailer.
