Brink Clan Scrimmages

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:41 am

As the Topic Title and Description illustrate, this thread is dedicated to setting up friendly scrimmages for clan vs clan.

Questions? :jammasterjay:

Why?
Well after a clan gets used to a game, playing 'randoms' (unaffiliated with a clan and usually below the average or average skill level) gets boring after awhile...
So setting up a chat (thanks sony for not screwing this up :P) where when one has 8 members ready to scrimmage can join and basically have some fun in Brink :)

How?
As stated above, the PSN chat is a simple method to get clan v clan matches...

When?
Also stated above, just whenever two groups have 8 ready to go... and when PSN gets back up :(
:toughninja:
so yeah...
Bring it On :banghead:

just post here if interested :)

Rules:
1.Since these are for fun, it is alright to play with whatever you have online, even if the person is a friend and unaffiliated with your clan...
just get those 8 people :)
2. No Glitching
3. No hard feelings about getting your ass whooped
4. Good Luck and Have Fun :P

:brokencomputer:
No...
But you can lose :P
It'll prolly take two-three weeks after the PSN is back online for everything to settle out and to get caught up in the skill levels... those bots are [censored]... :violin:

well we wouldn't need to Q^ as they have this invention called lobbies (awesome btw), so it'll end up, if worse comes to happen, that we use an honor system (and vids :P)... and play each other and set up a tourney (wouldn't be that hard)... but scrimmages would be nice so we can avoid playing scrubs with 8 players and just killing the opposing team... however... with bots... the average skill level in Brink should be dramatically higher than in MAG... so who knows how it will turn out :intergalactic:

The Freeplay mode is perfect for 8v8 clan matches as it is. There is no real clan support or lobbies in BRINK as of yet. At least thats what the PC & Failbox 360 crowd is saying.

They said that in one of their many pages about the game :(

:sadvaultboy:

On the other hand...
Freeplay mode... well I'll tinker with it once PSN is backup :violin:

5v5s and 6v6s are used for competitive play not 8v8 just saying
been watching the Brinktv Streams and the game is well balanced at 5v5
8v8 is for pubs

SyN is down but we'll be playing 5v5s

Why exactly is 8vs8 unbalanced? Sounds weird. Only reason to play lower numbers should be if you dont have enough on for 8vs8.

pubs and competitive matches are played on a different lvl
8v8s turn into more of just a plain frag fest than running a more tactical setup

no game competitively is played with a huge amount of players

kz2 and kz3 were 4v4, 5v5 and 6v6 never really 8v8 too for the reasons above
competitive cod is 4v4

smaller games give the ability for not only skill to shine but teamwork and strats as well as u have more room to maneuver the maps and flank and it isnt all based on kills

look at the PC tourneys being held for Brink currently they are all 5v5 and 6v6
i watched the Brinktv stream and 5v5s were hectic and fast paced perfectly suited. 8v8 also some maps are too easy to spawn [censored] on defense, like container city. with a full 8 u can spawn trap easier on certain maps and just turns into a frag fest
hell even the competition playlists is made for smaller teams

http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/05/06/brink-community-qa-part-1-stats-site-revealed/

As with our previous games, Brink features the competition-friendly Stopwatch game mode. If you haven’t heard of it before, it’s pretty straightforward. Both teams take it in turns to play on the attack and the one that manages to set the faster time wins. If neither team manages to play through the whole map within the timelimit, Brink will first check which team managed to make more progress, and if that’s tied too, the team with the most XP wins.

We’ve also made sure that our maps scale down to 5 on 5, since we know that smaller team sizes are very important for clan matches. We even have a special matchmaking playlist right in the console versions of game that’s set up for these smaller team sizes. This playlist also turns on friendly fire and voice chat, while switching off things like Command Post buffs, bots, and overtime for the rawest competitive experience possible. On the PC, you’ve got dedicated servers of course, so all of these settings are at your disposal as well.

SyN will be doing 5v5s mostly. If its one thing the actual competitive ppl from MAG wud know is that smaller games > large cluster f%!ks

In this game it seems like 5v5 will be really small it's not like the game is played on a large scale to begin with. 8v8 will play nicely it'll put more action on the battlefield. I don't think 8 players will make it any less competitive, it will most probably be a little tougher yes but that's exactly why you use tactics and teamwork.

more players u got less tactics more of a frag fest, not much teamwork goes on or room for strats, just gotta power ur way through, Same thing with SOCOM and 16v16 less room for strats and flanking and more fragfests
have yall even seen how 5v5 plays?
ive been watching the PC competitive scene since day 1

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFFxKW4pIb4
highlights from day 1, this was 5v5 with random teams of 5 ppl
there was never really a dull moment those games

either way the main issues at hand come from a development standpoint. the Medic's adrenaline needs a nerf and we need a party system. ppl knocked on socom for not having 1 but at least they are goin to patch 1 in for that , no word if SD will even do 1 for Brink and thats what will kill off this game fast especially when its a new IP

either way i hope they do do something about it , if not then there is always Uncharted 3 up next to go along with SOCOM for SyN

Coming from 32v32 minimum, anything single digits is small.

yea but those 32v32 were hella easy tho lol
smaller games u get matched up against more teams , more chances of ppl actually working together as a cohesive unit and not like MAG where blue dots just run all over the place and get redlined in the 1st minute

we can try both 8v8, 5v5, and even 4v4... these are friendlies and mostly looking for fun.. we can tinker with how things will work later in a friendly tourney

How about those of us that would like to participate but don't want to be clan affiliated? Also, the community may not be large enough yet to support it. We may have to start out adding dedicated/hardcoe players to our Friends' list and then network from there. With what's happened recently and how P2P games seem to attract cheaters, a screening process may be beneficial, too. Especially if prize tourneys are a possibility. But the general concept is a good one and we should try to push this through among the PS3 Brink community. MAG games/clans may be a good place to start recruitment. We should keep it off the Zipper forums though. May offend 'em and be against forum rules. Not sure about the latter.

Edit: Dig Brink, but MAG'll be the first mp boot up for me. I can stop fiending soon. C'MON MAP...Will my state hurry up and light the frick up!

It won't be a prize tournament, strictly friendly and all for the competitive nature. As for non-clan affiliates, you may want to round up yourself a group of players of some sort in order to participate, If I do host the tournament, Im not going to deal with a bunch of random players and trying to get all that straight with a bunch of people. It shouldn't be difficult to put together a 5 person team at the least. I know at least 4-5 clans that should be able to participate and I have yet to decide on the limit of how many teams. You have time so no worries

I expect 5v5 or 4v4 to be standard for competition.

We do need a chatroom for finding clan matches, but it should be for any size matchup.
