Brink error on switchable graphics

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:36 am

I have a AMD Radeon HD 6630M with the intel HD graphics. I have set brink to run on the AMD radeon card but apparently brink does not like that and tries to run using the intel HD card.
I forgot to say I also tried updating the catalyst control centre which apparently fixes some AMD cards (http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles...15ahotfix.aspx) but for me the computer still loads brink up in intel graphics instead of the AMD card. And also I am not going to change the bios settings because I dont want to kill my pc for this **** game.

Lastly I was wondering what other programs (.exe files) brink loads up before the game starts so I might be able to try change that program to run on my AMD card.

This error occurs btw:

If windows is picking your integrated graphic card over your dedicated one then you will have to go into BIOS and disable the integrated solution.

1. Remove the ATI graphic card suit / driver. Make sure to get rid of it. If you have any specific drivers for the integrated Intel card then remove them as well. Aslong that the driver is the only thing that is installed, your ok.
2. Restart your computer and enter into BIOS mode (You can find instructions in your Motherboard manual but the usual is tapping the Delete key as soon as you restart your computer until you enter bios)
3. Since you didn't specify your motherboard you will have to look up your manual on how to disable your integrated Intel graphic card but usually the setting is like : onboard graphics: Enabled" .
4. Once you have Disabled the Setting you can leave Bios but remember to save your change.
5. Now if your ATI card is properly installed into your laptop Windows should pick on it, either way continue with Re-Installing your ATI driver.

You need to be careful when changing the settings in BIOS, especially if this will be your first time doing so. If you check your motherboards manual that came with your computer / motherboard, you can follow exact instructions in the manual's BIOS help section on how to successfully turn off your integrated graphic card. There is nothing that can go wrong if you carefully follow the instructions or if you prefer you can also post the name or id of your motherboard so that we can help you through this, but I can assure you that this isn't a big deal and it won't take much of your time.

Technically you don't need the manual(but it's better to use one if this is your first time messing with the BIOS), as I said, the setting to disable the on-board graphic card will be easy to spot, you will just have to look through all the settings closely. There is very little room for error if you are careful since it's almost impossible to accidentally change a Setting you don't want too as long that you don't rush through smashing your keyboard.

There is, all motherboards with integrated graphic solutions have that option, you probably missed it.

If you can tell me which motherboard you have I can help you find the Setting.

Its ok, I just checked with other owners with the same laptop as me. It appears that there really is no BIOS switch and that the switchable graphics is bugged. It appears it is not a bethesda or smash damages problem. I have contacted sony about this and hopefully this will fix the problem.

he is using a laptop (hence the M). you could maybe disable the intel via device manager in windows. intel gfx blows.

the reason for the 2 is that the intel card uses a fraction of the power - so better battery.
