Brink Graphic Issues

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:53 pm

When I play Brink, it looks like everything is low resolution. I've heard that some people are having this problem, and some aren't. I'm playing on a 42" LG lcd via HDMI on a slim xbox 360, and the game is installed to the hard drive (although I believe it was the same before installing).

I just took a couple pictures with my phone to show you what I"m seeing.

A company should be forced to show an Xbox version when they post vidoes on Xbox Live. Its the old bait and switch.

You can say that so easily. But whenever I install it to my hdd and the problem is still there, what are you going to tell me then? For the record, I did that already, and am still having a problem. So what's your answer for me?

As he just said, that does NOT fix the issue. The pictures I took were from a game I played AFTER installing to the hard drive.

Some folks are saying that if they use a different (older) TV their graphics clear up. I've never heard of such but it's been repeated enough to make me wonder if it doesn't have some merit. Worth a try if you have more than one TV.

Oh, no doubt it's the game but knowing if it's true what many, many members are saying about different TVs may help isolate what the in game problems are and get help resolve things (as in a game patch). It should not matter what TV it's played on, but it can help with isolating the problem and help some play their game now instead of waiting on the patch.

Just out of curiosity, if you go into system settings on your xbox and then into display settings and change your output to 720p does it fix it? The reason I ask is that many older television were 720p as opposed to newer ones being 1080i/p. It might explain why some televisions, mostly older ones, don't have graphic problems. BTW, the TV I play on is 720p and it looks fine and all the 42" LGs I searched for were 1080p. Just wondering...

My tv is 1080p but i was playing it first on 720p with hd component cables so I could use my turtle beaches. I did change to 1080p with an hdmi cable. Going to try it on my smaller 720p tv today though

I just tried this. My primary TV is 1080p native, so I thought I'd give it a try on my older 32" 720p native TV and there's almost no difference in textures. The only thing I noticed was that it wasn't as blurry looking. So my guess is this game needs to be played on a 720p native TV.

My biggest complaints are the lack of smoothness in all the edges of the environments. This only seems to be the case with the interactive, three dimensional portions. Anything I can use the SMART button on etc, basically anything within the boundaries of the maps. The edges of the maps seem to not have this problem. Don't know much about it but it makes sense to me that it's only what you can interact with within the map that would have this problem.

The problem is the video chipset. The xbox 360 uses an ATI Xenon (one of the earlier models in the 1000's range) and the game is basically designed to work exclusively for NVidia cards (as all id tech games are). Just like any PC user with an ATI with the Xenon chipset 4000 and under, all xbox users have the same problem. Anyone who claims they have an xbox and is experiencing no graphical problems is either lying or is using an xbox where the chipset was modded.

Same problem here
Making Brink the first 60 dollar game that renders a 700 dollar HDTV useless since ppl state that playing on older tvs makes it better.

Again... i stand by my signature

Woah, good call. Since they've fixed the issues with the ATI problems on the PC, hopefully they'll have a patch soon for this...

They have? I wasn't aware of that. I don't know if the fix will be as easy for the xbox since the chipset on the xbox is so old. The 360 uses the xenon 1400 I believe and they're well into the 6000's now. I could be wrong though, I didn't exactly do my homework.

does your tv not have optical audio out? just curious since you used components in order to use turtle beach.
