brink has come good (and thats even before the DLC)

Post » Sun Jul 17, 2011 5:28 am

i have brink for the xbox. i loved brink when it first came out. i know its had issues with lag but i had a feeling it would get fixed and it has.

but its been all the other small updates that have secretly been input into the game that had made a big difference to me.
the graphics have been tweaked. if you remember when it first came out when you were in character customisation your character used to have a blur effect on the far away most parts of your body from the screen. but know its all cleaned up and no blur just a clean cut character. the A.I. on a level 20 character if you play solo multiplayer and a versus match is excellent. yes you will still need to be the main one to complete all the objectives but your A.I. teammates seem to be really good now at backing you up as you try to get these objectives.

even when i play on freeplay multi player in most games its a 8 v 8 human player game most of the time.

if i did have one gripe though it would have to be playing as an engineer you sometimes can't get your turret to start building even though it has lit up white meaning your on good ground to build on. but for some reason nothing happens when pressing the build button. its not a big problem but it does annoy you when it causes you to get killed. but hopefully the new patch might sort this problem out. but other than that I'm a huge brink fan and get many hours of fun from playing it.

Agreed! I even just thought up a poem for the haters of Brink!

Resistance is red

Security is blue

I'll push you into the sea

If you don't like Brink like I do!

I got brink only 2 days ago, i see the friendly AI needs a bit of a push most of the time but as soon as you get onto a versus with atleast one player on each team the AI go into overdrive! they fullfill their class objectives much quicker and back each other up more effectively. The gunplay is great and the maps are full of tactical choices. You get a real rush when, after the vip has been stalled for several minutes in the same spot, you finally get him moving and rescue him just a few seconds before the time runs out. it adds a real feeling of desperation. I get that the slightly enclosed maps and emphasis on working as a team arent for everyone but it brings a lot of variation to a stale genre. One of the first fps games in a long time where i spent an hour fine tuning the attachments to my favourite gun!

well if your not already on level 20 then wait till you get there because thats when the game comes alive. i played private solo and the versus mode by myself just today and twice i was trying to complete an objective when i got killed. but when i ran back to the objective my A.I. team bots had completed the objective for me. i then went to the next objective and my bots had already got a hack planted and were guarding it. so for people to say that SD are not listening to there customers is a joke because when the game first came out you had to get every objective done by yourself and you were lucky if your bot team mates backed you up the same way that the enemy bots do. but glad your enjoying the game as much as myself and others on this forum. but you do get some rather fussy and moany people on here as well.

You know, i'm starting to get a little bit suspicious of these over the top support posts. They're just as bad as the over the top anti posts. Its not unknown for employees of games companies to go undercover on forums and hype up games. Just as employees from rival companies have joined websites just to spam negative posts. I'm not saying the op is a plant. Its just that i play on the xbox too, and my experience of Brink has been a mixture of fun and frustration.

Mine has too, and even though I tend to look on the downside of things, I still love this game 100%. Even if the DLC isn't released by the end of this week, I'll still love it- I just won't like Beth/SD as much, and will believe in them less.

I must be in the minority. I'm not that bothered about the dlc. It'll be nice to have but to me the patch is more important. All i'd like them to do is fix the lag and i'll be happy.

I'm defo not a plant i just don't get to so hung up on things like other people. the DLC is coming out and if its this week or next month it doesn't really bother me. but i know it will eventually get it and for free so whats there to complain about. its not like not having the DLC is killing the game in the same way that the lag did when brink first came out.

also now that the friendly A.I. is very good to the extent that i have to keep checking my player list to see that there are no humans playing on my team when I'm playing on private freeplay on versus mode. I'm honestly having a bit of a battle these days to get the main objectives completed by myself before my bot team-mates do if first. even things like building an MG nest if your an engineer. once its built one of your bots will man it and take down enemy targets with it.

as I've said before my only gripe is trying to build a turret when it shows up white but it wont built when you press the build button. hopefully this will get sorted in the new patch. but its not a game killer you can still complete the game with this minor flaw.

but the last time i complained about it on a thread about building turrets i got told i wasn't doing it right and must have something wrong with me. so i do have my issues but they are not big enough for me to get to hung up over.

i agree lobbies would be good but again i still can join most games on the xbox and have the majority of players being human. so it doesn't spoil my enjoyment.

but I'd urge you to play a private freeplay versus mode by yourself using a level 20 character and tell me that the game is one sided towards the enemy bots and it was not fun to play.

You know I thought exactly the same with a few people that litrelly came out of nowhere spouted a whole lot of possitive stuff to do with everything not possitive trying to defend the game the best possible as if the words came right from the dev's mouthes, sounding frustrated too, and then after I said something like you just said left to never be seen again. It is farfetched but really it would be suprizing, I mean theres nothing stopping them doing it. I honestly think with some of the stuff ive heard that the people who have been so possitive about the bad stuff or just outright possitive in everyway trying to argue the rightfull problems with the game arent the people who bought the game.... but sold it.... lol. I cant imagine someone saying things such has been said if they are actually a Brink fan and wants the game to be better.

so to sum up... 'I don't like Brink Therefore no one else does'

we all have different tastes.... i believe it is better to chat about something you like than to complain with no constructive feedback. But that doesn't seem to be the ethos of forums nowadays.

Well. Yeah. I used to think it was a far fetched idea too but now i'm not so sure. Given the vast amount of money involved i wouldn't be surprised if employees from developers did use forums to hype/trash games. It's sneaky but it's not illegal and i guess it's a form of cheap p.r. like going on metacritic to review your own game and trash a rival's.

That's all great helpmeout but i didn't buy the game to play against bots

May I suggest that before you decide to sum up people's posts, you take a few reading classes

Ino... its not seeming so far fetched now. I mean its not against the 'rules' or law and no no one will ever know, why not lol, who cares if it is deciefull or disrepecting, they dont care lol. They jsut want to defend their game. Im not saying its fct or anything, but really really wouldnt suprize me atall

I suggest you read that last post and reflect on the fact that you made no sense saying "so to sum up... 'I don't like Brink Therefore no one else does' " to the post that you quoted.....

why would he need to read whatever post you are reffering to to make a clearer statement? its just his assumption.... whats wrong lol

I'm still amazed at the bad reviews. Maybe it's cuz I got into the game once version 1.02 came out (for PS3), but I absolutely LOVE this game. I can't get enough of it. One of the best shooter engines I've played. It's great to play a shooter game and not have to worry about getting sniped from across the map by a shotgun, or a team of 12 snipers who camp out in the same spot the whole game, or team mates that only care about KDR while the other team is capturing all the zones.

I think modern gamers have gotten too whiny.

Anyway, one new player here rockin it on the PS3...I look forward to killing (or working with) any of you PS3 users online.
