Brink's maps are bad

Post » Sat Jul 23, 2011 1:48 am

I'm sorry guys, but I think Brink's maps are really badly designed. I see them as it being freakin' easy for the Resistance to win. I play Security most of the time I play Brink (which isn't much) and after every game I end up pissed off. I played Security Tower, in 2 minutes they got the gate open, also know there were around 4 other real players in here, and the second Security spawn point svcks! The only way to get up to the safe quickly is by going UP THE STAIRS, while the Resistance can just walk right in from their spawn point ON THE SAME FLOOR! That means the Resistance can just camp the stairs the entire time. What's wrong with that picture?

How come no Security maps have constructable/destroyable gate/walls like the Resistance in one of their maps? Container City is bad too, every match I play on that map as the Security, I get camped in my FIRST spawn. You can blow up the gate, and there's two other flank points, other than that there aren't many other flank points for the Security!

It seems to me SD kinda wanted the Resistance to win most of the matches. I told myself before the stats site came up, it's gonna be Resistance winning almost all the time, and what happened? The Resistance win 60% of the matches in Brink. The only "hard" Security map is Reactor. Does anyone see what I'm saying?

I bought Brink day 1, and in all, I've probably only played around 20 hours, that's it, and I know why. I'm not trying to troll here, this is a serious problem in my eyes. Anyone agree/disagree? Thanks for all responses in advance.

I find the airplane level the most difficult for the Resistance, especially if Security is on the ball two of those objectives become nearly impossible.

But overall I agree about the maps, many seem mean spirited towards Security with longer routes they're forced to take and many of them easily turned into death traps when they get to their desired location.

Which console are you playing on? If you play on PS3 add me WhiteV . Security Tower is my favorite level and no one (real people) EVER beat me on it, FACT.

I for one enjoy destroying the resistance on container city and find it the most fun map to attack

I think they're all fine, i have no problem on either side on any map, you jus gotta know what ya doing, 1 or 2 other who know what they're doing helps also.

definitely no "bad"

Security tower can be easy either way, just gotta know when to try lock the opposition down and when to just slow em up

Although in most cases I would normally state that player skill matters more than map balance, since the stat site was started Security has never won a weekly Battle for the Ark on the console versions. I think that says enough all by itself, especially as you are placed on random teams when joining a game/server.

Exactly! Zipepr did the same thing with MAG, they probably wanted SVER to win more, and look what happened. It's sad that SD did the same thing, why do devs these days always make the hobos with guns always win? I really wish the Security won more. Maybe the Labs and Founder's Tower maps will be in the Security's favor when the DLC comes out....if it does. Hopefully.

The map i find the hardest for the resistance is the one where oyu have to plant the bomb on the bridge to get teh thing going though. After that you have to hack a box ]while all teh security camp in their with turrets.

The game is perfectly balanced. There are no spawn advantages in the game at all. Only a God could come close to creating more perfectly balanced maps. You need to convince your friends of the greatness of Brink get them to purchase it and stop playing with randoms and those bots. It's all in your head, and if you played against the bots you'd see that they don't take advantage of spawn positions.

It's probably because majority of people play as Resistance and fight against either a few number of Security users or mostly bots...so I assume they would win. (For PS3 at least)

The only map I feel is a tad to hard is Shipyard on Security side, it is possible though. But being stuck against a team of real players, and my team consists of myself, 5 bots and two horrible human players (seems everyone gets frightened of Shipyard on Sec) I tend to lose it a lot. I've never really found this game to be throwing the controller in frustration difficulty.

Maybe if the OP has any validity Security is for the "better" players.

The only map that I find unbalanced has to be shipyard. Especially against bots, the Security has a nearly impossible job due to the close proximity to the Resistance base during both phases.

If having a balanced game is all you want, go play 2Fort on TF2 for the rest of your life. Can't get more balanced than that.
