I don't think one will be better than the other because, like you said, they have their differences, and you really cant compare them but if you want a game that you will have tons of playability, I'd pick Brink. That's not to say that Portal 2 won't have tons of playability either but you will probably spend more time with Brink because of the different ways you can choose to play.

P.S. If I had the option, I'd get both

Ummm... in my opinion you can't compare them in any way? Portal 2 is a FPP (First person puzzle) and brink is a FPS... so I say they are both going to be great games...

You can't compare two outrageously seperate things.

It's like comparing Minecraft to Left 4 Dead. Just doesn't work.

OP: Apples and Oranges really. You might as well ask what's better between World of Warcraft and and Prince of Persia. There's really no similar standard they share to actually compare to eachother. You might be able to ask which will have a better particular aspect, like graphics or plot, but as a whole it's just not really possible.

Anyway I'll be getting both.

Pointless thread. One is a single-player (okay, co-op too) focused puzzel game. The other is a multiplayer focused class-based objective-focused shooter.

Well if you think about it minecraft and L4D are a bit more similar that what the OT said, I would say it's more like comparing pong and HL2

Completely different games ...

Portal 2 will be a good and fun puzzle-adventure.

BRINK will be a good and fun first-person-shooter.

I'm getting both, but I might wait on Portal 2 because the Gears 3 Beta comes out 5 days later. So I think it'll be Gears 3 Beta on 4/25 >Brink on 5/17 >Portal 2 in June or July.

Better?

For me Portal 2 will probably have more concentrated enjoyment but I'll probably log more hours in Brink so in the end I'm not sure if I can choose one over the other, especially given how different the games are.

Think you hit the nail on the head Hungry Donner. Portal 2 will probably be more concentrated enjoyment, but not extremely replayable (once you know the solutions to the puzzles, kinda takes the fun outta it) while Brink's experience will be spread out over months and (hopefully) years.

Well comparing those two games is like comparing apples and Ak 47's but.. Since I don't care about portal 2. The first one was kind of boring and never really saw reason for the cult like love some people have for it but whatever. So Brink wins for me but I can't really compare the two.

Remember, after the code is released for Portal 2, even newer mods akin to Portal: Prelude and the Flash Levels will be available, except you know, you get the non-Steam Xbox version. For being Microsoft, they put a lot of limits on their developers with the mods and data usage and accessibility. Any player made content in a Valve game had to have them add it personally and there are only 2 instances.

Also challenge rooms and it isn't a 3 hour game and I have probably played each Half-Life game 3 times. Quality can add replayability when you wait a year or so.

They are vastly different games. It is quite likely that both will be awesome.

I really have no intention of buying Portal 2, to be honest. Brink, The Old Republic, Deus Ex, and Skyrim are my only purchases this year.

I like how everyone in this thread basically said the same thing, including the OP. I think the question has been (non)answered. Is there any point in continuing?

Yeah, how did you even think of comparing two unique games as similar? like most have said Apples and Oranges, no comparison.

Brink and Portal 2 are both (hopefully) going to be fun in their own way.

They are two completely different games, like everyone has been saying. You cannot really compare the two.

It is like chocolate-chip cake vs. ice-cream cake.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.......two caaaaaaaaakesssss. Yummy! (Brink cake better not be a lie! )
