British Teen rides bike on surface of water

Post » Tue Jul 19, 2011 2:03 am

So I booted up Yahoo, and here's this little gem at the top of the sports page

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/post/British-teenager-bikes-on-top-of-water-for-chari?urn=top-wp203

I dunno know how he did it, but according to the article, it wasn't a camera trick or anything. He biked across to raise money for flood victims in London apparently, which is a pretty awesome thing to do.

Any idea's how he pulled it off?

Looks shopped.
Or just a really long platform across the water.

Ice slightly below the surface of the water?

Scuba divers holding up platforms while he moved?

Very well trained turtles with little jets attached to their shells?

Cthulhu?

Judging from the angle, it's the same trick hollywood has done for years to make things look like they are running/walking across water: transparent/camouflaged bridge JUST under the surface of the water.

I'm sure the photos are very much real. So is the platform in the water on which Whitehurt's bike is likely standing.

Seems to me there is a plank or something. Though, it is entirely possible to ride a snow mobile across a lake when its not frozen, but you have to be going incredibly fast to accomplish it.

"A British teenager raised money for a flood victims in London's Lake District"

Honestly, I don't think Americans should be allowed to write stories about things that happen in Britain...

He even says "England's Lake Buttermere" in the next paragraph. Well, I guess he figured not a lot of people reading Yahoo Sports would care.

Anyways. I won't believe until he explains how he did it. If he hydroplaned then someone would have brought him up to speed for that, but I am not seeing water being cast outwards, if you will, when someone hydroplanes.

Hey! We don't want it any more than you do! Isn't there an isolated island in Scotland where we can put it?

My son thought this one was the most likely.. he's almost six, and a self proclaimed genius, unlike his old man, who's an idiot for not thinking up the turtle explanation.
