70 hours and size of saves, I think that is getting to be the common denominator for a lot of people. The size of the saves gets bigger and they start not wanting to load. A common issues with modded games usually due to memory leaks somewhere. Not that mods cause them, but generally speaking games that are as wide open as TES games are have massive memory leaks and cause these sorts of issues. Anyone that has played modded versions of Civs or older TES games can attest to those sort of problems, after X amount of turns, or x amount of hours the games become totally unplayable and most of the time will never load.
Obviously the game shouldnt have any leaks, a fresh unmodded 'out of the box version', but I would say it has them. Having mods and other toys added in just speeds up when it over taxes itself.
I have tried every trick in the book, overclcking, underclocking, low res, low setitings, chaniging ini stuff, syncing, unsyncing, renaming and retooling saves. While i am not expert I have played PC games forever and know a few tricks, and none of them are working. So thattells me the problem is with the game itself. Since this is not an MMO we will be waiting for a fix until after the week end to be sure, and probably longer than that. They have a scheduled fix already and maybe it addresses the core problem or it doesnt but I would think probably not.
But it seems like as tie goes by and people get more hours into a single character they are seeing the same issues guys saw who pushed through those times in a short period. I dont think itis coincidence. My level 37 was basically unplayable, I started a new guy, he is as 32 now and startung to get worse, I imagine by 37 he will be unplayable as well. common theme? Saved game sizes on their last saves are 5 digits. In some cases it could be CPU maybe not being able to handle the load, but so many people with beyond recommended to bare minimum spec qualifying numbers are seeing it, so I sayit is in the game itself somewhere.
Not being able to use more than 2 GB is the major problem, even the 4GB 'fix doesnt seem to work all that well either, it just might buy you alittle more time.
