Bug help. Not exactly sure where to post the question : V

Here's the problem, since it involves a quest, I'm putting spoiler tags. I'm playing on a PC.

I decided to wait to do "No Stone Unturned" until I was a Nightingale and leader of the Thieves Guild.
My journal says "bring the unusual gem to an appraiser", and points to Maul. Maul doesn't give me the option to ask about it now. I took it straight to Vex, but she doesn't have a dialogue option for it either.
I searched the "Bugs" listed for the quest "No Stone Unturned" on UESPWiki. But, my specific problem was not among them.
I tried a command for a similar problem that was listed. "setobjectivescompleted tgcrown 20 1"
This indeed casused the quest to update to 0/24 stones recovered...but the first stone is still called "unusual gem", and I can't identifiy it as a stone of berenziah, so the best I can get is 23/24.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Is the issue that you collected all 24 before 'starting' the quest by talking to Vex? That does cause a known issue. Since you're on the PC, you could try loading the Unofficial Skyrim Patch - it is supposed to fix this issue. The Patch is only in Beta at the moment, but here's the link to the thread about it if you want to check it out:

A cool thanks! I was wondering when that would become available. Ths issue I'm having is that the "unusual gem" remains "unusual gem", and doesn't become the first "stone of barenziah". Maul and Vex don't have options to identify the unusual gem as a stone of barenziah
