Is it a bug, or just me?

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 1:35 am

I got the 1.6 update yesterday, but didn't actually get a chance to play Skyrim, and today when I loaded up my save, I started off in the book shelf menu... as if I'm in my house... with my books... books that aren't on a shelf... or in my inventory... and I'm in the Dwemer ruin underneath Markarth. The menu kept coming up, and the books kept disappearing as if I was taking them, but thet're not in my inventory, and I can't check where they are because I'm underground... in the middle of a quest. Also, it kept saying you can put x number of books on this shelf, which seemed to randomly change between 18 and 12.

Has anything like this happened to anyone else, or am I just unlucky?

*shrugs*

I haven't had such a thing happen to me. Sounds ridiculously bizarre however.

That is the is one of the oddest bugs I've heard of yet. It seems you be unlucky there. :/ Can you load an earlier save and avoid the weirdness?

Do you have mods? If you do, try taking them out and trying vanilla. I was lucky--only one of my mods crashed my game, and it was easy to detect.

Did you post this before?

Because otherwise you are the second person I've read about having this issue so far... which is a little scary tbh.

Nope.. I'm an Xbox 360 gamer, no access to mods.

No, wasn't me, only happened this morning... oh dear

Hmmm... I'll try it... strangely, out of of the 2 times I loaded that save, it did the same thing. Fortunately it does seem restricted to only being weird... not actually doing any damage as of yet... touch wood.

Did you save near a bookcase then load up a different save? A weird new bug happened for me where i saved facing a jug then loaded the save at helgen for a new character creation and there was "take jug" on the back of ulfrics head...the way i fixed was to reload the save facing the jug, move away from it and resave. The other saves were fine after that

I thought you were going to say that the way you fixed it was by killing Ulfric. That would have been awesome.

Nope, saved in Nchuand-Zel (the ruin under Markarth, and loaded it up there. No bookcases, just standing in front of a door, minding my own business.

That's quite comforting, actually.
