Ok no bugs or freezes. Then ALL of this happens at once.

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 11:07 am

Ok i have always been extremely lucky with video games my whole life. Bug wise. Except with fallout NV. But that's a different topic. I have been doing great in skyrim. Literally no freezes or broken quests since 1.5. Yesterday I turned on the console for a "quick" session of skyrim. Then the DB questline has broke. I tried multiple saves, and I still cant continue. Now I'm getting tons of freezing and frame rate problems that you wouldn't even imagine! I can barely do anything or go anywhere the freezing and stuttering is so bad. My save file is only 3mb. All of the sudden the freezing and lagging just hit me like a rock. I've cleared the cache. Still. The same. Also I'm on 360. Idk why it's happening like this all of the sudden.

luck has to run out eventuilly friend... it could be a problem with the 360 its self how long have you had it exactly because the 360 is one of the consoles that are built to degrade at a certain point in time. try turning the 360 off for a few days and then try to play it could be overheated or try to delete the patching information and redownloading it i know that has fixed the problem where i wasnt able to swim in the ps3 but im not sure if it works with the 360.

Just bought the 360 a month ago. Ironically it was to get away from the lagging of the ps3 version. But I now have it on Xbox. It's not overheating and every other game I've played is completely normal

well i dont know what to tell ya mate, the xbox is usuilly really good up intil the point it is meant to degrade and skyrim was coded and designed with the xbox in mind the pc and the ps3 versions were just ports... as i said if you can figure it out try redownloading the patches for skyrim as i dont have skyrim for my xbox360 i cant run you though that so your on your own with it. i hope that helps

You might wanna put this in the tech forum, you might be able to get some better answers, if there are any.

Other than that, what's this about X-Box 360's being designed to degrade?

It's called misinformation. Or is it disinformation? I guess the difference between the two is intent.

Probably. It wouldn't make sense for them to build them to degrade at a certain point unless they had a definite release date for the next gen console, which I doubt they had in 2004.

Very true. Their patches create more problems than they solve. I haven't had any problems until just recently, and I'm on patch 1.2. I'm lagging like crazy now, so I guess I'm going vanilla...

The fat X-Box 360's overheat and die. it's going to happen eventually, to most people, if not everyone.

So do the fat PS3's, which is why you shouldn't buy the next generation consoles until the improved version is released some years later. I would bet real money the first models will have overheating problems.

is it installed on your hard drive? if so you could try uninstalling, clearing the cache and reinstalling the game and patches

1 of my fav games is dead to me now. somehow in trying to move the game files from hard drive to memory stick then back to hard drive, it corrupted to the point the game doesnt even load up, even after wiping all the files...i miss my red dead but thankfully skyrim saved me from my bad breakup :P

My first 360 was one of those that melted itself, but the elite I replaced it with has been brilliant.

It turns out that standing them up exacerbates the overheating problems...

A 3mb save file?? Out of curiosity - how many hours have you been playing??

If can't be all that many, I would start over after deleting and reinstalling the patches.

Not all fats are created equal. The Jasper models reduce both the CPU and GPU to a 65nm fab process (from 90), use a lot less power and generate a lot less heat. These are much more durable than the Xenons and Zephyrs of old.

OP, try a new character under an offline profile. If the tech issues go away, there is something wrong with the save files in your original game. If they persist, there is something wrong with the game install, the cached data or your hardware. If other technically-taxing games continue to work well, you can eliminate hardware as the cause. Make sure you try other 3D games that stream a lot of data from the HDD on the fly, though.

Xbox 360's are built to die after a while? I better tell my original box to get with the program and stop working.

360's are like any electrical system, with care, they last, without, they die.

all things are built to fail nowadays, whether purposefully or cutting corners and saving time/money...it applies to tech as well as automobiles. Cars built back in the 50's and earlier didn't fold up like an old wallet as new cars do, also things could be fixed easier and lasted longer. The same applies to pc and consoles, you can take a 30 yr old NES, blow in it, and it will run fine. Take a 5yr old xbox and the thing melts. Imo its all about the benjamins, they build stuff to last but so long so you either have to pay to fix it or buy a new one...

can anyone tell me why games end up doing this? whenever a game patch is released, it fixes the broken subject but then breaks something else in the game. the same happened to battlefield 3 and now that game is getting patch after patch because something breaks after each patch

The Xbox 360 degrading is complete BS, just so you know... the internet, full of false information. Usually I start a new game when a patch is released, and I have very little issues. It's always good practice to do that when a patch is released, even though it can be a pain.

I just had similar problems on xbox when trying to clear out liars retreat...i reloaded the entry autosave, turned around and ran away as fast as i can. Lets hope thats the end of the sudden stutter problem...i swear its kinect patch related, the patch is too big and i wish i could remove just that patch without removing the others.
