Bugs in a jar

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 12:36 am

Yeah i know lots of people are wondering about those bugs in jar and what they are for. So far it looks like they are for nothing, but maybe, just Maybe they have a connection to those mushroom circles.

Have you guys found any of those mushroom circles around yet? Ive seen 3 seperate ones so far and they appear to be just a circle of mushrooms that have no purpose. But mushrooms dont grow like that naturally anywhere.
I know its a stab in the dark trying to come up with the connection of the bugs in a jar and the mushroom circles, but so far i cant find any sort of purpose for either, so maybe they have something to do with eachother?

This of course is just a random theory that is based off of absolutely nothing, but i decided to throw this idea out there to those people who were still trying to figure out what those did.

The bugs in jars are just some collectables in the game. You can either have them in your inventory or you can place them somewhere in your home/homes for display. Havent heard about or seen any mushroom circles but im pretty sure the bugs in the jars doesnt have anything to do with them. I would very much like to see one of thoose mushrooms circles can you tell me where to find one?

I've seen one "Faerie Ring". And mushrooms absolutely grow like that in reality. Mushrooms are the 'flowering' components of a fungus. The fungus grows outward in a medium (the ground in this instance) and, if unimpeded in all directions, they will grow in a circular pattern. As time progresses the faerie ring will be larger each season. :nerd:

We better stop talking about this. We're breaking the forum rules by talking about real-life stuff - people might actually learn something. :P

Ayup.... even here in the very dry southwest, we have real "mushroom circles" in wet summers.

There's one not too far from the Twilight Sepulcher - between there and the Shrine of Akatosh up the hill.... sort of left/west from the sepulcher. And I hope I have that even semi-close to right since I can't get in game until my "real" machine gets back from a repair trip to the mfr.

Spoiler
I think the Guardian Bear for Kyne's Trial quest spawns at or near a mushroom circle.

Yah, that's the same area I was talking about.

Got to Fort Sungard and travel south. It'll be along the north face of the mountains (my arrow marker is right in the center of it):

It will be such an amazing day when we figure out what those jars are for. They have to be for something... those runes.

Also Rune in the TG. You tell him that if you find anything about his family or the runes you will tell him. But that leads to no quest or anything, which seems weird to me.

There are many quests to nowhere. Stuff that was unfinished or depenedent on stuff removed from the game. Rune's quest and Bug Jars are just two. Fixing what is wrong in Riften seems to be another. There were threads early on in December last year that named a few others.

Another one is the Coral Claw - which you buy from Birna in Winterhold. She tells you if you get killed it's not her fault, and something to the effect of if you do find anything out to let her know. But that doesn't start a "return to Birna with the tale" quest, and if you do go back, she's all business as usual (yeah, I tried it...)

I ran into two faerie rings when I was hunting the ghost bear for Froki. One faerie ring was right next to the target and it had a staff lying in its center. Afterwards, I wandered around in that area some more and got a bit lost when I found another ring. I think it was northwest of the first one, somewhere near that mine with the orcs that you sometimes get as a bounty target in Falkreath.

Has anyone camped out at one of these pixie rings to see if anything unusual happens?

Yes, I found that one as well:

Perhaps the surrounding of the shot give you an idea of at least what hold it is in.

Here is the other I found, which has one of every type of mushroom (save glowing) in the game:
