Build me an assassin!

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 4:12 am

Okay so I'm coming up close to 100 Archery and I'm now planning what attack style I'll work on now.
I've been leaving the Dark Brotherhood quests for a good moment.

So, I've decided I'm going dual-wield daggers.
What I need to know:

1. What's the best dagger combo I can use?
(I'm 100 smithing, so Daedric is most definitely an option. And I'm willing to go looking for anything else.)

2. What's some good armour?
(I like things in sets, I don't like mix-matching different pieces. I've completed the Thieves guild, and I'll be willing to go looking for anything.)

3. What's a good game style when I'm doing this?
E.G. Clearing out dungeons, my sneak is pretty high due to using sneak while ranging, but I never could get close enough to attack with a blade.

A. Any additional tips and information would be a GREAT help.

Thanks!

I would say the best armour is the Nightingale armour.
Well, probably not the best, but it's cool and looks are more important than how good the armour is when it comes to sneaking around IMO ;)

However, the armour with the best enchantments for an assassin can be found later In the Dark Brotherhood quest line. But you will look like a [censored].

Edit: The best enchantments without the enchanting skill as far as I know.

1. I personally use Dual Daedric, however Mehrune's Razor and Blade of Woe are good if the enchantments float your boat

2. I use a mixed armor set, but Nightingale or Ancient Dark Brotherhood Armors are your best bet

3. If you get the "Silent Roll" perk, then you will be able to get close to enemies very quickly and use your melee before being discovered.

Tips:

Always get a good view if possible, note what direction each enemy is facing and plan your kills (I'm serious, it helps)
Once you blow your cover, get out of sneak mode (Your going to need to be able to move)
"Quick and clean" Use Silent Roll to kill multiple enemies in quick succession so that they can't find you.

I did originally have Nightingale in mind, thanks, just wondered if anything better was out there that I didn't know of :)

Also, remember that you can get enemies to move around using the Throw Voice shout or simply by firing your bow at a wall to get them to investigate.

Okay, thanks very much, that's great help, might have to train the whole role-quick kill thing though, not so sure I'll be good at it at first, but I've got plenty of unused Health potions to back me up.

I honestly only use Health Potions, and the occasional Invisibility potion for those extra hard sneaks. As long as you don't rush in too fast you'll be fine. Once your sneak gets over 60-70 I rarely get detected unless it's in the middle of a city, because there's people everywhere.

Practice makes perfect, and I'm sure you can do it.

1. What's the best dagger combo I can use?
(I'm 100 smithing, so Daedric is most definitely an option. And I'm willing to go looking for anything else.)

Dual wielding Daedric Daggers with legendary quality, I suggest a enchantment of some sort on it to give your character a tiny edge.

2. What's some good armour?
(I like things in sets, I don't like mix-matching different pieces. I've completed the Thieves guild, and I'll be willing to go looking for anything.)

Nightingale boots+Gloves, I suggest Dragonscale(legendary) for the rest of the set, or any light armor that has a good defense bonus.

3. What's a good game style when I'm doing this?
E.G. Clearing out dungeons, my sneak is pretty high due to using sneak while ranging, but I never could get close enough to attack with a blade.

Go to companions guild while everyone is asleep and run into a wall in one of the rooms with Nightingale boots on, also max out the Sneak Perk tree no matter what!To allow you to sneak up on enemies like a boss and slaughter them without realizing it.I also like having anything with charmeleon in plentiful quantity to help with sneaking past beasties.

A. Any additional tips and information would be a GREAT help.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GET SNEAKING TO 100 AND MAX OUT ITS PERK TREE FOR MAXIMUM AWESOME CHARACTERNESS.TRUST ME, YOU WILL ENJOY THE X15 +THE RUNNING WHILE SNEAKING PERKS.FINALLY, PUT SOME ENCHANTMENTS ON YOUR ARMOR AND MAKE POTIONS THAT INCREASE YOUR HITS DAMAGE.

I can't remember off the top of my head, but I'm sure it's around 74-75 ish, if not it's definitely in the 60's, but even then, I always seem to get found out, no matter how slow I walk.. But I can train by doing Companion tasks.

Do you know where I can get anything Chameleon? I'd love some. Haven't found anything in my game play since I got it. And yes, I have the x15 already, no way was I going to leave that out! :)

Honestly, the best advice is to scout before you attack. If you can approach the enemy from the back or at least the side, it will be so much easier. I'm assuming that the NPC's are programmed with a peripheral vision of 180 degrees, so as long as your on the backside to any degree, it should be easier.

I had a chamleon necklace I believe, but I don't remember where I got it.I sold it for like 109 coins, but there are tons of chameleon potions scattered across skyrim+the ones you make.Get a good alchemy level=amazing health and chameleon potions.Anyways, once you hit the level 81 perk/level cap I suggest going to get the Ogma Infinium and doing the glitch for maxed out skills, so you will be extremely good on all fronts.

If you have good sneak equipment and 100 sneak you will easily be able to hide from anyone, this includes people who are looking directly at you.It worked for my character when I went through the Thieves Guild for Nightingale.

81 is the level at which all your skills are at level 100 anyway...

Okay someone just bought something interesting to attention, what about Drougr Death lords and dragons and dragon priests? Or just over all any boss.
What's a good technique for dealing with them?

Take off all your armour and weapons, buff your stamina as much as you can and sprint in the opposite direction. I'm ashamed to say that my warrior Orc was reduced to running through the swamps around Morthal naked today because I ran out of health potions against a particularly tough enemy (can't remember what it was).

Get behind them or on a wing(after dragonrend) and use your amazing stealth skills to get tons of hits in with your daggers awesome powers, then back up and use archery from a bit back to kill it off. :)

With my level 33 character with daedric longsword+Nightingale boots+Dragon scale all legendary quality, with 100 smithing and speech can take on any dragon without using a health potion. :)

7 perks illusion. Novice-- expert, and silent cast.

Get invisibility and build your magica pool to 250-300.

Get a dagger with absorb magica on it, and use shrouded DB gloves (the damage of the dagger is irrelevant when multiplying by 30- everything will die in one turn)

The rest of the build is up to you, but invisibility in one hand / blade in the other >> dual dags.

I made a lengthy post for a build like this (one that used runes) about 20 pages back now, It has about 6-15 free perks you can customize to your style all before level 50. Oh, anyone who says invisibility is not worth it, hasn't used it. The thing is sneak perks + invisibility basically grant a DnD version of HIPS.

1. use the max upgraded blade of woe and a epic daedric dagger for your dagger combo.

2. Use Nightingale armor and boots, but ancient shrouded gloves wich doubles sneak attacks instead of the nightingale gloves, and shrouded hood instead of nightingale hood.

magic I don't go with illusion att all, with high sneak and all its perks+ the nightingale boots invisible spells is useless.

I like to go with destruction magic instead.
I like shock spells, since their good against annoying mages, but frost can be handy if you wish to slow your enemy down.
other than that, get a ring with high sneak bonus, and neclace with fortify
archery or one-handed attacks.

this has worked very well for me ;)
