Build a house?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 2:46 am

A thing I have been thinking of...

What if you could buy property of the different Jarls instead of buying a house inside town. There should be a couple of different sites spread within each different territory/hold that you could buy. And then "build" a house on that site. Maybe choose from a couple of different looking houses; form cheap to expensive. Maybe I want to live deep in the woods or by a streaming waterfall or something?! And it's something more you can spend all that hard earn gold you have

That would be awesome!

I haven't been around to all holds in Skyrim but I think the houses you can buy are inside city limits so to speak, or am I wrong?

Bethesda? Fix for a future update?

Or what say you?

You are correct that all the buyable houses are in the cities

I find this irritating because I am a nature boy at heart and would prefer a house in a small village or even in the wilderness by itself.

Oh well when the CK is released that will be no problem, I'm going to add a hopuse to Falkreath and then one near a lake somewhere

Bethesda won't do this, someone might probably will do a mod for it.

If you need to spend you'r money, there are usually skooma dealers amongst the khajit caravans

I always used Raven Rock as my home in Morrowind as it had real connection to character because you got to build the town. The three Great Houses would also build stuff if you completed their questline. These were great aspects of the game in my opinion.

Oblivion lacked this and it felt really hard to balance the type abode I'd like in a location I prefered. I settled on Bruma mainly due to te Main Quest, and the fact it was my favourite city. Luckily it was a half decent house.

It's the same with Skyrim. The best houses are in places I'm not so keen on. I'd love to be able to tailor a house to my needs in a place I'd like. It's the natural evolution of what Morrowind started.

Oh in that case no they won't be possible for you, sorry

Having said that I do think there should have been more variety in the vanilla version anyway

CK?
CK- Is the creation Kit that was used by Bethesda to create the game. It will be released for free to be used by anyone on the PC to create new content. Houses, weapons, quests, new land etc. It can be used to create almost anything

How about being to designate somehow a particular location as your house, as long as it's not occupied by an NPC (a live one anyway). That way you could pick some evil sanctum or some house in the country, or some abandoned ruin as your house. And some of them are pretty well equipped. But maybe you can only have one designated "home" in the game at once. You can change it, but then your containers in the old home become potentially unsafe.

My Vote Too, Even when Iam so tired and have to call it a night, I will not just save it. I have to get back to my Inn at Riverwood and take off all my armour ( leather) and chill in one robe that i keep, Imagine doing this and sitting on your deralict porch looking at a river with snowy mountains in the back groud. Just what the Doc orderd after a days Killing...lol. ( Sad or what)..

I would love this, although it doesn't need too much freedom for me. Just 3-4 potential places in the wilderness in addition to the places in the cities.

After I compleated the main Quest, before I started again I went back to the Thieves Guild where a guy could repair the Assasins Guild which was attacked and badly burnt Up. I spent 2.500g, for that we got a new antrance ( secret door in the woods) a new bedroom with fittings, a new eating area, and ithink I paid for an Alchemy lab??not sure. but thats what I done and then went back to see for myself..it was done really well. So buying a house away from the city must be able...we want one....place in the sun.

It'd be cool to be able to rebuild a house in Windhelm, or one of the few abandonned burnt up houses out in the wilds. The one near the Western Watchtower of Whiterun, for example. :)
