'Call of Valor'

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 5:58 am

is a realy beneficial shout, that almost always grants me the advantage in ANY battle what so ever.
The shout can tank targets whilst I shoot a heck lot of arrows, and it can also boost my damage output if that what's I'm looking for.

What I'm trying to say is, that with a follower or even without, this shout will turn any battle to your benefit.

How do you fellow citizens of Skyrim use this magnificent shout, if at all?

I've never used it. I only have it on my 1st character because I haven't completed the MQ on my 2nd yet. I never used followers on my 1st and only recently started using one on my 2nd (mainly to look like I have a bodyguard when I walk around town in 'normal' clothes :P), but I'd like to hear anecdotes of how well this shout works; also, whether or not the summoned hero acts as a follower or a summon/thrall. :confused:

Posting from my phone atm, so it'll be rarher short :-)

I believe it works as a summon, like a dominion, who'll target whatever you target.
It truly helps me out a lot, and with this shout, I always get the advantage against fierce opponents.
He works as a tank, which gives me time to be the archer I am.

But is this shout 'over powered', or?
Thoughts..

I got more use out of it on my orc berserker that I played on Expert than my two other characters. Using it on those llllladies, it's just kind of overpowered since they already had max Smithing/Enchanting and could two or three shot most things on Adept.

I used it once to kill a Sabrecat. Thought it was a neat little novelty, but was generally unimpressed. I haven't used it again.

I have never once used it. I've only beaten the MQ twice though.

I think this shout is useless. The heros of sonvngarde are so fricken weak that when I do use them during a bandit raid they always seem to die. I rather summon my deadric lordes then to use this shout.

The positive side is that they can shout. That's all.

For 3 minutes cooldown, I'd rather use Fus Ro Dah, actually. Especially on high bridges. Makes great laughstock seeing them fall and die, with better cooldown!

This^. I've tested every shout I've ever gotten and Unrelenting Force is still the best. I don't know what it is that's so satisfying about blowing enemies off cliffs, but it's just cool. Once when I was one swipe away from being killed by a sabre cat I suddenly remembered to shout Fus Ro Dah at him. It was probably my imagination but as that cat was blasted off that 500' mountain top I could swear he had a gigantic WTF?!?!? look on his face as he disappeared out of view. Sweet.

Why would I want to summon one of the three jerks who crowded in on my glory by tagging along with me to fight Alduin when I can summon a dragon instead?

The shouts I tend to use are:

1. Unrelenting Force
2. Marked for Death
3. Elemental Fury
4. Whirlwind Sprint
5. Call Dragon

Okay,

It seems like people aren't too fond of this shout.

I can't figure out why exactly, since it has been so useful for me.

'Marked for death' is a shout that does what?

The DoT is weak (personal experience), but apparently the armor/defense debuff is powerful (reported). :P

Causes a very minimal amount of draining damage, but utterly destroys the enemy's defensive capabilities. With all three words, you can turn pretty much anything into confetti.

Marked for Death utterly devours an enemy's armor, it's probably the most useful/powerful shout all-in-all.

Krii -> Damage Health 1 pt/sec & Damage Armor 25 Pts (60 seconds)
Lun -> Damage Health 2 pt/sec & Damage Armor 50 Pts (60 seconds)
Aus -> Damage Health 3 pt/sec & Damage Armor 75 Pts (60 Seconds)

Using Marked for Death with all three words learned allows my current character (dual wielding dagger kitty cat) to get an Ancient Dragon down in less than ten strikes.

Where is it located?

Autumwatch Tower (in the Rift near Froki's Shack)
Forsaken Cave (Where the White Phial quest takes place)
Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary (Have to do either With Friends Like These or Destroy the Dark Brotherhood)

Okay, thanks :)

and btw:

I've spoken to Maul at the Riften Harbour about the DB and I've slept several times since, BUT no one from the Brotherhood contacts me.
I read online that after doing so (what I just wrote) someone within the DB should contact me, but they haven't.
How to join? (and don't give me the 'listen to gossip at random inn'-reply)

The DB is started when you visit the Aretino (sp?) kid in Windhelm. To find him, just go to Candlehearth Hall in Windhelm and talk to the bartender about rumors. Also, citizens on the streets may bring it up right away if you interact with them. Then you visit the kid and go kill the nasty orphanage lady for him. The next time you sleep you wake up somewhere unexpected. However, don't be worried if it doesn't happen the first time you sleep. Once it took two or three times before I finally ended up where I needed to be. It must have glitched but it worked out.

I like to use Fire Breath + Augmented Flames + Fire Within on my mages. It's generally useful, and it's funny to blow away wildlife.

I haven't used Call of Valor yet because I just got it last night but I'm going to give it a whirl. One of the shouts I've been using lately that I hadn't used before is Slow Time and I'm loving that one. It lets me get right in a draugr deathlord's face, for example, and deal some extra damage before he can respond. It works great. I'm looking forward to calling a dragon too because that one is new to me. :tes:

You should definitely try it out :)

Against an overlord or a dragon priest, I'd recomend (or against any 'boss' figure that needs to be taken down from a distance)
