Calling all poker players!

Who all here plays poker?

I never thought to ask but I just won 3rd place in a tourney of about 47 ppl so it's on my mind.

I love/hate poker. I got into it after I saw it on ESPN the year with MoneyMaker. I'm decent I win or break even about 6 out of 10 times so I'm not losing as much money as I'm putting into it.

I used to go to Biloxi, but I'm too old to be driving down there from where I live every weekend.

I like Omaha but Texas Hold'em is more my style.

I never much cared for the whole poker face/reading your opponent aspect of poker. I much prefer games that require actual strategy rather than guessing and luck.

There's skill involved.

Otherwise the same group of ppl wouldn't be in the finals of poker tourrneys all the time.

Big fan of Poker here

Favourite is Texas Hold 'Em, but 5 card draw for Strip

Never lost a game as of yet (and we play weekly, sometimes more often!), I always come out either 1st or 2nd (sometimes we just split the pot with the last 2 players...it can go on for too long otherwise!)

Tried playing online poker, but it just isn't as fun as sitting around a poker table, cigar and whiskey in hand

EDIT: Lemunde, there's a lot of strategy involved in Poker. Sure, there's a bit of luck involved, but most of it is probability, basic strategy and pretty advanced Psychology.

Worst player ever right here. Funnily enough, I won strip. Makes no sense.

I hate any and all kinds of poker that aren't texas hold 'em. Especially the 5-hand-cards poker where you place a bet before you know your cards.. That's 100% luck. I wish more of my friends liked poker. I can't possibly be good at it because I've only ever played it once in a while, but I'd like to play more.

I like Poker, not played for a while, my dad got a big set out and table every few weekends.
We stopped after trying to explain the same rules over and over to my sister

I play sometimes. My poker face is rather terrible so people know exactly what I am going to do before I do it. I never win :(

I love to play Texas Hold'em, but I only play with my friends about every other weekend.

I either win, or am the first to go out.

I love Texas Hold'em, and I would consider myself a pretty decent player. Unfortunately competetive poker is banned in Norway so I would have to leave the country or find some secret event if I ever decide to participate in one.

I wish I knew people with which I could play poker. Unfortunately, the people who do play poker are usually ... undesirable. To me, anyway.

I have an incredible poker face. Don't know whether I'm actually any good at the game, though, since I only play every few years, but I've won each time.

I've just started seeing someone who's in a small poker group (don't really play for money) so I'm hoping I'll get to learn soon as it always looks like fun to me.

I heard you can play poker in Red Dead Redemption. Is this true, and would playing it help me grasp the basics? I have no idea what you lot are going on about with the Texas Hold'ems or any of that.

The poker in Red Dead is Texas Hold'em, and it's a good way to learn the game as it goes exactly the same as the real thing.

My cousin used to play poker as his job and I used to watch him sometimes when he was playing online and I can guarantee you it's more strategic than you think, but yeah, luck obviously has a large role in it.

I play Texas Hold'em a lot for fun, but rarely for actual competition. A few of my mates and I get together occasionally for our poker nights where we just play a cash game for a fiver each.
I also sometimes go down to a Pub back home to take part in a ranked tournement. I was doing really well, topping the league before I came down to University so I consider myself to be pretty good.

I don't consider Poker to take much skill, it's down to luck whether you get a good hand or not. Those who are good at the game can make a good hand out of an average one, and make the best hands worth a lot of money. It's really just down to confidence and aggression more than numbers in my opinion. Unless you come up against an equally aggressive player you can pretty much bluff most hands to win a pot.

I hate playing online for real cash, I don't like having my bank funds so readily available. I play online for fun sometimes though, occasionally with my mates. I tend to stick to Party Poker or Poker Stars, so if anyone wants to play against me, just drop me a PM. :)

How come?

And I've noticed a lot of people claiming to have played very few times but have 'won'.. How exactly do you 'win' at poker.
Do you mean win a tournement or winning every single pot you play? Or do you mean turn a profit?

All my friends are not interested in poker (well except that kind where you loose some part of your clothes).
And my family can't play poker either.

There are plenty of ways you can play online?
Also, I found a few clubs around where I live with other enthusiasts. Maybe try that? :)
