I am at level 46 and just finished the Companions' "Silver Hands quest," but cannot progress further in the Companions Quest line since Aela gives me the "Stealing Plans" quest at Redoran's Retreat, which I had visited and cleared early on in the game. Then I noticed the following on the Skyrim Wiki: "If the quest is at Redoran's Retreat, and the cave is cleared, xbox 360 crashes." And that is exactly what happens. This is listed as a "radiant" quest, but no matter how many times I reload on XBox 360, Aela still insists on the location as "Redoran's Retreat," so the questline cannot be finished. Any idea on how to fix other than starting over a whole new game? Is Bethesda addressing this in their 1.4 patch?

Very frustrating indeed. It's also bugged for me: in my case, Radiant chose Haemar's Shame. I'd been there before, and when I tried to go through it again with Aela for this quest, it crashes.

Plus, if I try to forget about this quest and do something else, Aela is set by the game to accompany me .... so she started following me EVERYWHERE I went .... but I couldn't use her as a Follower because she's only supposed to be with me for the bugged quest.

I had to start a new game to get rid of her.

Until this is fixed, it would be my suggestion to everyone to only go with the Companions until you've done all their Story quests. After that, keep away from them.

Keep your fingers crossed for 1.4. That was listed as a fixed issue in the log, hopefully it's fixed for saved games as well and not just applicable to new ones started after the fix.

I had an issue with Totems of Hircine - I was being sent to Haemar's Shame ({PS3 freezes up when trying to zone). I reloaded the Auto-Save from when I entered Jorrvaskr, but didn't get the quest from her. Then I just ran around doing other quests and came back and the Totem quest sent me to a different location.

If you can reload before she gives you the quest you might be able to change the game's 'mindset' so that it randomizes a different location after doing other quests.

If you wait a while - I always waited 32 days - dungeons will re-spawn. That usually solves issues like this.

I have a similar problem. Only mine is with Valteim towers. I completed Silver Hands and now Aela gave me Striking the Heart. It told me to go to Veltheim Towers but I already cleared that out a while ago. I don't know what to do. I can't continue because it says the Silver Hand leader is at Valtheim. I get there and there is no one. I am on PS3, please help.

Wait 3-4 weeeks game time. Every dungeon/interior area has respawned in my game so far. Some even still say "Cleared" and there are interlopers present when I go back.

Just started Companions quest line - kill bandit leader at Valtheim Keep, except I killed him already and have him lying naked on the stairs with an arrow over his head indicating he needs to be killed - but he is. Argh! Am I going to have to start over again?!
